Biography

Balazs Simonyi (1980) is a Hungarian film director, member of the European & Hungarian Film Academy. He majored in Literature & Film & Art Theory (Aesthetics), and is currently completing his PhD in Art Theory. He works as a director and producer since 2002. His feature length doc, ULTRA, coproduced by HBO Europe, was shortlisted for the European Film Award – Best Documentary 2017, and selected amongst the „15 Best Doc 2017” by European Film Academy. His work had more than 250 festival screenings (including Cannes, Sarajevo, Cracow, Seoul, Seattle, Clermont-Ferrand, etc). His films have been distributed in more than 20 countries. Simonyi has authored many individual and group exhibitions of photographs since 2003.
