Searching for common ground after a tumultuous election cycle, The Center for Michigan and Bridge Magazine followed six families from around the state and across the political spectrum to find out what really matters to Michigan residents. A young mother from east Lansing, trying to teach her boys respect, responsibility, and good moral values; a business man from Grand Rapids who believes the social climate is improved since he was young; a man from Flint, weary of the government that made the decision to switch their water source to the Flint river, contaminating millions of homes with lead water; a woman in harbor springs who has been under-employed for the better part of the last decade, but stands firm against entitlements; a Muslim couple in Dearborn afraid that their children will grow up in an intolerant world; a family from the upper peninsula trying to survive on welfare, unsure of where they're going to get next month's rent; each trying to understand their part in the ...
