About the festival

The Women's Canvas - A Festival Of Films, encourages and supports the growing number of women in the film world. The complete Film Canvas is designed and run by women for women, this festival aims to encourage and reward the accomplishments of like-minded filmmakers who aim to create interesting and boundary-pushing content. This festival is not only for women who direct, write, produce etc, but also for anyone who involved women in their production through acting, grip and electric work, and anything else. We love seeing the changing world of film and appreciate every job, no matter what it is, going to women in film.

The selections will be judged and decided on by award-winning independent female filmmakers working in the industry. With that, the website will include features chosen from the submissions and inside looks into some of the filmmakers. So whether you're a finalist or not, the festival will be a blast all around!

The Women's Canvas - A Festival Of Films, is a three day event with screenings and mixers designed to provide opportunities for both local and international filmmakers to showcase their work and build contacts for future collaborations. We invite you to add your voice to the conversation.

We at the Women's Canvas, filmmakers are invited to the festival to participate in a variety of programs, Q&A sessions and a series of panel discussions, Press Conferences. masterclasses where filmmakers have the opportunity to discuss their work and careers with a new generation of content creators.

Award winners will be announced at our festival and receive hard copy certificates at our award ceremony along with engraved 'Women's Canvas Film Awards' trophy, winner laurels.

- Semi-Finalists, Finalists, and Winners will receive the personalized Festival Laurels.
- All the shortlisted participants will receive the Festival Laurels, Personalized Certificate for their Film “Certificate Of Participation” with an online verification.
- Golden Camera Statuette will be handed during the Awards Ceremony of the Film Festival.

Terms and rules

1. This festival is not only for women who direct, write, produce etc, but also for anyone who involved women in their production through acting, grip and electric work, and anything else.
2. Films should contain original content, produced and directed by the filmmaker himself/herself
3. Violation of intellectual property rights, "infringement" with regard to patents, copyright, and trademarks, and "misappropriation" with respect to trade secrets, can be a breach of civil law or criminal law, and can be used to file a lawsuit
4. If music or additional film material used in your film is not original, then you must cite the source. This is entirely the filmmaker’s responsibility. Failure to cite the source will result in your film being withdrawn from the Festival
5. Films should be submitted through our Submission Partner
6. Films submitted past the deadline will not be accepted
7. All genre films are accepted
8. Screening committee determines which films shall be exhibited, submissions are not guaranteed to be shown. All decisions of the committee are final. Except for the audience award, separate juries select festival winners
9 . Submissions are NON-refundable. We cannot be held liable for materials which are lost or damaged.
10. After a film has been an official selection, the filmmaker will be notified.

Our guidelines are as followers: 2019 Women Directors Film Carnival Screenplay Competition: We accept screenplays from across all genres. 1. The Screenplay has not yet been produced. 2. The Screenplay is under 160 pages. 3. No adaptations must be writer's original work. 4. The Screenplay must be in English. 5. The Screenplay must be a completed draft. 6. Writers must be 18 years of age and over.
