Universidad Villanueva organized the tenth edition of the International Short Film Festival, Villanueva Showing Film Awards, in which young people aged 15 to 25 years can participate according to the category to which they correspond: Young Talent ( 15-18 years) or Filmmaker Category (18-25 years). The topic to be addressed by all registered audiovisual compositions is:
"INTERCULTURALITY"
Villanueva Showing Film Awards aims to encourage young people to reflect on universal human values through audiovisual language.
This festival offers great visibility to young film talents before an international jury of experts, producers, directors, screenwriters, actors and other professionals in the sector who attend the annual awards gala, held in an iconic enclave of the capital of Spain, presented by a recognizable figure of the film world and broadcast live through streaming.
> DESCRIPTION OF THE THEME
Villanueva Showing Film Awards invites you to reflect on interculturality and the need for openness and communication to have greater capacity for dialogue between different cultures.
Migration movements are becoming more frequent and the very configuration of our society facilitates continuous contact with people from different countries and different cultures.
At the same time, these migration movements are often vital dramas for many people. In addition, ignorance of the "other" can generate fears and mistrust that often degenerates into conflicts, difficulties and barriers (also physical ones such as those of Ceuta and Melilla, those of Palestine or those of the US and Mexico).
At school, at university, at work... we continually live with people who have a very varied cultural richness. Only with openness and dialogue can we take advantage of to make, from this daily reality, an opportunity for enrichment and mutual learning.
According to UNESCO's glossary, the term interculturality refers to the presence and equitable interaction of different cultures and the possibility of generating shared cultural expressions, through dialogue and mutual respect.

> FILMMAKER CATEGORY (5 minutes maximum. Not counting credit titles)
1. REGISTRATION IN THE FESTIVAL
Young people from any nation, between 18 and 25 years of age, may participate in the Filmmaker Category. The registration process is divided into three parts:
1.1. Pre-registration: To start your registration you can use FilmFreeway or fill out the form located in the “participate” section of the website: www.villanuevashowing.com
1.2. Registration: Once the request for pre-registration has been received by the participant, and instantly, the Villanueva Showing Film Awards team will contact the group representative. Through another form, you will be asked to complete your registration by providing information such as: the name of the short film, synopsis or the identity document of the main team members. Upon submission, the Villanueva Showing Film Awards team will contact the group representative to indicate the next step.
1.3. Sending files: Finally, the group representative will be required to send the following materials through WeTransfer.com or similar:
Short film without subtitles (maximum duration 5 minutes)
Subtitled short film (maximum duration 5 minutes)
2. END OF REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION OF MATERIALS
The registration period, and the submission of materials, ends on March 9, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (GMT + 1)
3. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORKS
The works may be submitted in any language, but always subtitled in English. If the original language is English, they must be subtitled in Spanish.
The contestants are responsible for the fact that the works submitted are not subject to any legal claim. Villanueva Showing Film Awards and its organizers are not responsible for any lawsuit filed by third parties. The participating team will be solely responsible for possible copyright claims.
The short film will have a MAXIMUM DURATION of 5 minutes (not counting the initial or final credit titles).
Two copies of the work must be delivered: one with subtitles and one without subtitles. Likewise, it is essential to send the making of the work in video, with the same technical characteristics of the audiovisual works presented, in which it is shown how its production was.
All these materials must be delivered in the manner indicated by the organization in a .mov or .mp4 video file with the following characteristics:
Format: H264. 1920 × 1080, 24fps, progressive.
Audio: ACC, 320Kbps, 48,000Hz. Stereo.
If you want to present another short film, you must make a new registration.
4. ASSIGNMENT OF RIGHTS
By presenting a short film at Villanueva Showing Festival, you agree that the mp4 file will be uploaded to the Festival's social networks for public viewing, and so that it can participate in dynamics such as “popular voting”. Regarding the length of stay, the works will be kept on the Villanueva Showing Festival social networks indefinitely.
5. PUBLICATION OF SELECTED AND WINNERS
In March 2020, the organization will make public, through the Festival's website and social networks, the selected works that choose to win any prize from the tenth edition of Villanueva Showing Film.
That same day, and from the moment in which the selected short films have been released, the popular vote will begin. The public will be able to vote for their favorite work through Instagram and Facebook.
The voting procedure will be as follows:

1 Likes ❤️ on Instagram: 1 point

⚡ 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧: For the vote to be valid, the person who “likes” or shares will have to be a follower of Villanueva Showing in the profile from which the vote is made.
On the day of the Villanueva Showing Film Awards, the final list of the winners of the Category Filmmaker awards will be announced. The jury's decision is final and a desert prize may be declared if deemed appropriate.
6. FILM CATEGORY AWARDS
FIRST PRIZE: $ 5,000 + Screening of the short film at the Gala + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival
SECOND PRIZE: $ 1 000 + Screening of the short film at the Gala + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival
THIRD PRIZE: $ 500 + Screening of the short film at the Gala + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival
POPULAR VOTE AWARD: Huawei Nova 5T (or similar) + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival
BEST ADDRESS: Award of recognition + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival
BEST PRODUCTION: Award of recognition + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival
BEST SCRIPT: Recognition Award + Visibility and impact through the social networks and media of the Festival

Each group of students must be supervised by a teacher or representative of the student's educational center or interested students, who will act as an interlocutor between the group and the Villanueva Showing Film Awards organizing team. The same teacher or representative may supervise more than one group of students.
The Promise Category allows the joint participation of students from different educational centers provided they are supervised by a teacher or representative of one of the educational centers.
The registration process is divided into three parts:

Upon submission, the Villanueva Showing Film Awards team will contact the teacher again to indicate the next step.
1.3. Validation and sending of files: Finally, the sending of the short film will be required, whose maximum duration is 1 minute, through WeTransfer.com or similar.

5. YOUNG TALENT CATEGORY AWARDS

A scholarship for the value of 100% of the rates of the first year of any grade of the Villanueva University Center (the amount of the scholarship can be distributed among the group members who wish to study at the Villanueva University Center) + Course “How make a professional short ”in the Villanueva University Center + Visibility to the shorts through the social and media networks of the Villanueva University Center.
SECOND PRIZE:
Course "How to make a professional short" at the Villanueva University Center + Visibility to the shorts through the social and media networks of the Villanueva University Center.
POPULAR VOTE AWARD:
