About the festival

UPDATE: POSTPONED DUE TO COVID

As of now, we're exploring options for next year. While the dates says May 2021, please check back, and check your email, we will notify you as soon as we have confirmed venues. At this time, Movie Theatres of any size are not permitted to be open.

New Jersey welcomes you to the inaugural Toms River Film Festival, taking place Friday through Sunday, October 2-4, 2020, in the Arts and Cultural District in historic Downtown Toms River by the Jersey Shore.

Our community celebrates environmentalism and sustainability and the Toms River Film Festival will give special consideration to films that focus on those topics. Our community also values education and the "maker" mindset and will be hosting workshops and presentations on the various hands-on aspects of filmmaking and film production.

The TRFF will also host a screenplay competition exclusively for NJ writers. The finalists will have excerpts from their scripts read live by local and professional actors.

The Toms River Film Festival will host parties each night of the event, a VIP lounge for filmmakers, workshops, table reads, Q&As following each screening, and plenty of opportunities to network with other filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals.

Come join us on the Jersey Shore, support independent cinema, and help foster the maker mindset!

Handcrafted jury awards will be given at the festival for each category.

Selected films will receive 2 All Access passes.

Filmmakers whose films are not selected to screen will still receive a weekend pass good for all screening blocks.
