About the festival

The Golden Bull Film Festival is an international short film festival, which is organized and managed only by the students of Istanbul Erkek High School. The festival involves live screenings at various places around Istanbul, interviews and workshops with acknowledged experts.

Istanbul Erkek High School is one of the oldest and internationally renowned elite high schools of Turkey. It is also the only high school in Turkey to host such an event between the high school students.

The Golden Bull Film Festival has had over 1000 shorts from all over Turkey. The festival has had many great judges, who were well known and successful Turkish writers, directors, actors and actresses.

With the Golden Bull Film Festival we want to inspire young directors, writers, actors/actresses and let them express themselves on a social platform through the short films they create by letting them take the first step at what they are passionate about.

The festival events and the award ceremony will be held in and around Istanbul.

Terms and rules

COMPETITION RULES
1. Only high school students or equals may attend the competition.
2. Movies (including the credits) cannot be more than 15 minutes.
3. There are no topic limitations but the movie can not include any inappropriate materials (obscenity, violence, drugs etc.). The movie can refer to them but it is forbidden to show them in the movie.
4. If more than 5 animation movies attend the competition, the jury will evaluate these movies in another category.
5. The movies that will participate in the competition should be saved in PAL format independent from its original format.
6. Jury has the authority to disqualify the movies because of the distinct technical mistakes they have.
7. The application deadline for the 16. Golden Bull Short Movie Competition is May 1st 2019. The following documents should be transmitted to the competition organizers by that time:
o filled application form, (is going to be filled on our website in the application section)
o A signed and approved student certificate by the school administration, (only the director's)
o Movies impressum
o Written contract
o Deed of consent
o The movie should be uploaded in the internet by YouTube, Vimeo or WeTransfer and the link should be sent to basvuru@ielsinema.com .
8.Participants can participate with more than one movie.
9.Director of the movie is free to designate the movie team.
10.Movies will be evaluated by juries.
11.Movies will be put through preselections before the main evaluation by juries .
12.Juries, organization schedule and rewards will be clarified during the attendance period. Juries of Istanbul High School Cinema Club have claim to change the schedule and rewards.
13.Cinema Club of Istanbul High School has the rights of presentation.
14.Movies, which have attended in previous years, can not participate in the competition again.
15 . Decision of the juries are certain and can not be changed. 16. Decisions of juries will be announced in award night.
17. Each participant accepts all of the 18 provisions by filling up the pre-application forms
