About the festival

*** NEW DATES: APRIL 22-25, 2021 due to COVID-19 Restrictions ***

Dear Filmmakers,

Like all of you, we’ve been struggling with the loathsome COVID-19 pandemic for the past seven months now. And throughout all the lockdowns and cancellations, we’ve tried our best to remain hopeful that by the Fall things may finally start returning to normal. But sadly, we were just informed that our screening venue – the Mauch Chunk Opera House, will remain closed until Spring of 2021. So we now have no choice but to, once again, postpone the 4th JTIFF until next year at our regularly scheduled time, April 22-25, 2021.

This is not a decision we make lightly. We realize that you’ve all been waiting patiently to be notified whether or not your film was selected for this year’s festival. So we thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support.

We look forward to seeing you all at the 4th annual Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival when it resumes next April, 22-25, 2021. In the meantime, stay safe, stay strong and continue making films! Please keep checking our social media pages and go to jimthorpeindiefilmfest.com for the latest updates.

Sincerely,

Todd Morris

We are thrilled to announce the fourth year of the Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival (JTIFF) happening November 12th through the 15th, 2020 at the beautiful Mauch Chunk Opera House in historic Jim Thorpe, PA. Our first three years were such a rousing success (see our reviews) that we're expecting to double the turnout and excitement level for our fourth year.

The Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival channels the rebellious spirit of the infamous Molly Maguires, welcoming the boldest, most defiant filmmakers to present their work, shatter convention and incite spirited debate. Our credo is “eyes and minds wide open” and we mean it!

We welcome features and shorts of every genre and budget - from gritty underground and experimental films to traditional narratives and documentaries.

Note that on Saturday night, we'll be continuing our wildly popular "GRINDHOUSE” program. So send us your bloodiest, nastiest and most disturbing films that not only push the envelope, but rip it to shreds!

We're also very pleased to continue our STUDENT FILM PROGRAM and as always, we'll be offering deep discounts for young filmmakers with proof of current enrollment.
