About the festival

SunChild International Environmental Festival, established by Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Asset (FPWC ), is the 1st and so far the only environmental festival holding on in the South Caucasus region.

More than 700 films from 150 countries around the world were screened over the last 10 years of existence. The film fest includes a wide range of activities such as carnival marches, dozens of workshops, conferences, and exhibitions. All events are eye-catching due to their colorful and unique approaches.
The festival ''travels’’ in the regions of Armenia throughout the whole year, involving a large number of children and youth, facilitating identification and creative solutions of community environmental issues by organizing thematic film screenings, discussions and other initiatives, encouraging and supporting to take action locally.
The aim of the festival is to bring nature, wildlife, and environment into the focus of public attention and increase the knowledge about issues among citizens and especially among children and youth.

SunChild 10th IEF is broadening its scope in Y2020! The Festival will take place in Yerevan, Armenia and in Beirut, Lebanon! Your film will be screened in both cities.

Winners of 3 categories will be awarded
- unique handmade souvenirs symbolizing SunChild IEF
- special certificates will be given made from recycled flowers laid on the Genocide Memorial
- monetary prize:
The Best Wildlife Conservation Film - €1000
The Best Environmental Film - €1000
The best Youth and Children Film - €500

Terms and rules

SunChild 10th International Environmental Festival is scheduled for October, 2020. It will take place in Yerevan, Armenia and Beirut, Lebanon.

We welcome films representing diverse ethnic groups, religions, and nations that depict the environmental issues, wildlife preservation and cinematic eye on today’s environmental issues all over the world.

Categories for submission

• International Wildlife Conservation Film Competition
Films about protecting animal species and their habitats, restoring the habitats and populations, released not later than October, 2019

• International Environmental Film Competition
Films about current important environmental issues and ecosystem restoration, released not later than October, 2019

• Youth and Children Film Program
Films made by children and youth about environmental issues released not later than October, 2019. Age range: 10-21.

• Informational Film Program
Non-Competition Program on all above mentioned themes and issues released not later than October, 2019.

FILM SUBMISSION
Entries submitted by post, email or any form other than online are not eligible for the Festival.
The deadline for preselection submission is May 31, 2019. The Festival reserves the right to refuse later submissions.
Upon confirmation of the film to the competition or non-competition sections of the Festival, the applicant agrees to:
- Provide a trailer of the film online by a non-expiring link or HD resolution file;
- Provide materials for localization (dialogue lists in English, spotting list, screener and poster artwork);
- Materials must be delivered digitally to film@fpwc.org stating the local and English titles of the film in the email subject line. The Festival does not accept deliveries on hard drives, USBs or any other physical carriers.
Final selection is made by the Selection Committee, and its decision is not subject to appeal.
Unfortunately, we do not have the possibility to leave a feedback in case if your film is not selected.

ACCEPTED SCREENING FORMAT
Feature films are accepted in Blu Ray or HD formats.
Each film can have no more than four screenings at the Festival. In case the film wins an award, the organizers shall run one extra screening on the last day of the Festival.
All films in the competition will be screened at the Festival in their original languages with English and Armenian subtitles.

Applications are accepted until May 31, 2020
The final decision of the Selection Committee will be announced by June 30, 2020.

Since SunChild IEFF has focused on the aim to raise public awareness for environmental issues and to stimulate an open discussion which helps to develop creative solutions for environmental problems in Armenia and the whole Caucasus region environmental film program is one of the most important parts of the festival. Environmental education of the young generation is one of the most crucial factors for the care of nature and the environment, along with youth participation in political decisions concerning environmental issues. They must be involved in the international investigation of environmental issues. That’s why our special section is dedicated to films and animations on environmental and wildlife topics directed and produced by children and youth worldwide.
