About the festival

Welcome filmmakers!

As we are all adjusting to the “new normal,” we, at Storybolt, would love to support your stories to contribute to building resilience and empathy among people.

We are announcing a special and limited extension of our 4th film festival, due to the COVID-19 situation!

Let’s increase empathy, resilience, and connection through documentaries! Submit your works that will fall into the following topics:
- Remote work
- Working from home and other responsibilities
- Virtual team building and efficiency
- Productivity during work from home
- Daily life (and work) and resiliency
- Virtual bias
- Stress and anxiety
- Loneliness and isolation
- Work from home while homeschooling
- And any other related topics!

StoryBolt is a platform that connects filmmakers to organizations. Your story becomes the center of courageous conversations at companies, corporations, and universities to ignite empathy and dialogue. Organizations book screening and live Q&A with you through our platform. Throughout each StoryBolting session, you engage with your true audience while making revenue from your short documentary. Filmmakers will have a chance to compete for $1000, $500, $250 cash prizes, as well as the opportunity to license their film through Docademia. Runners up will also be given distribution deals and have opportunities to collect royalties when their film is purchased by corporations or institutions of higher learning.

Selected documentaries will be also added to our library, which a number of universities and organizations can have access to it. They can book a Q&A session with filmmakers and therefore, filmmakers will be engaged with their true audience!

Documentaries must be less than 30 minutes long.
Documentaries with at least 1080i are preferred.
