With the rise of streaming services such as NetFlix, YouTube, Hulu and Amazon, there are a ton of new series. Unfortunately, many of these series don't get enough viewers to maintain a viable lifespan. The goal of the Series Competition in the South Shore Film Festival is to discover new series and help them get distribution. Series can be seen in all genres and in a variety of lengths. That's why we offer many subcategories. All of the series that are entered into the Series Competition will be considered for release on Prime Video. All semi-finalists will be screened at the South Shore Film Fest Series Screening on July 27, 2019. The winner will have their series released on Amazon Prime Video . We also understand how important actors, directors and cinematographers are to making a short film enjoyable, so we have added superlative categories for these key roles-- All of which are included with your entry fee.

Who doesn't love a good trailer? Whether for a film or a television series, a good trailer grabs the attention of the audience and makes them want to watch what is featured in the trailer. All semi-finalists will be screened at the South Shore Film Fest Trailer Screening on July 25, 2020. RULES: Trailers must be no longer than five (5) minutes. The cost to enter the Music Video Competition is $15. Winner need not be present. Music video can be already released, or wait for premiere with South Shore Film Fest. PRIZES: The winner for Best Trailer will receive a statuette and a $25 Visa gift card. The award for Best Trailer will be announced after the Trailer Screening on July 25, 2020.

Student films are difficult-- Especially for the students that create them. They are created for class, and often don't go further than that. With the South Shore Film Fest, students have an opportunity to get their hard work out to the public. All Student Films submitted will be considered for release on Amazon Prime Video Direct. All finalists will have their films released on Amazon Prime Video Direct. Student Films can be any length and any genre. We also understand how student actors, directors and cinematographers don't get the recognition that they often deserve, so we have added superlative categories for these key roles-- All of which are included with your entry fee.

It is often thought by the public that independent feature films are as easily released as films produced by studios. All of us involved in the independent film industry know that this isn’t the case at all. It’s hard to get your film screened at one theater, let alone theatrically distributed. Fortunately, Gemelli Films and Island Cinemas work together to release the winning film, in conjunction with the winning film producer(s) and production company. We want audiences to be able to see and appreciate new work, regardless of genre. All entries into the Feature Film Competition will be considered for release on Prime Video. All semi-finalists will be screened at the South Shore Film Fest Feature Film Screening on July 25, 2020. All finalists will have their feature film released on Amazon Prime Video Direct. We understand how important actors, directors and cinematographers are to making a film enjoyable, so we added categories for these key roles- included with your entry fee.

The Screenplay Competition is the most important competition to the founder of the South Shore Film Festival, Candice Cain. As a published playwright and produced screenwriter, Cain makes sure that all of the entered screenplays receive written feedback and their scorecards. Furthermore, Cain considers all of the entrants for a potential production by Gemelli Films. That's right-- all of the entered screenplays have the chance to be optioned! RULES: There are three (3) subcategories: short film (1-80 pages); feature film (81+ pages); episodic (22 - 60 pages). The cost to enter the Screenplay Winner need not be present. PRIZES: Each subcategory winner will receive a certificate. The Overall Winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card and a statuette. The screenplay awards will be announced before the feature film finals.

Commercials are a mainstay of television, even with DVR fast-forwarding. Commercials act as the bumpers for "commercial free" streaming services, not interrupting a show but being mandatory for viewers to watch before accessing the content that they want. Many companies are known for their terrific commercials: Farmers Insurance, Geico, Doritos, AllState... What about you? Did you create an awesome commercial that elicits a great reaction from viewers? Enter it into our Commercials Competition. RULES: Commercials must be 30 - 90 seconds long. Winner need not be present. Commercial can be already released, or wait for premiere with South Shore Film Fest. PRIZES: The winner for Best Commercial will receive a statuette and a $25 Visa gift card. The award for Best Commercial will be announced after the Commercial Screening on July 27, 2019.

There aren't enough competitions for music videos. There certainly aren't enough competitions that actually have screenings for music videos. We'd like to change that. All of the music videos that are entered into the Music Video Competition will be considered for release on Prime Video. All semi-finalists will be screened at the South Shore Film Fest Music Video Screening on July 25, 2020. All finalists will have their music video released on Amazon Prime Video Direct. Furthermore, ALL songs entered will have the opportunity to be utilized in an episode of New Dogs, Old Tricks. RULES: Music videos must be no longer than five (5) minutes. Winner need not be present. Music video can be already released, or wait for premiere with South Shore Film Fest.
