About the festival

Sopot Film Festival is an international film festival that has been organized since 2001. The Festival's rich programe consists of numerous film shows, meetings with filmmakers, exhibitions, workshops, silent cinema live concerts and music events. The Festival presents works of the European cinema as well as the recent and most interesting world cinema productions and world cinema classics. It introduces a variety of film productions as well as renowned directors and their work to the public. It also outlines some of the latest cinema trends. Each year movies awarded at the most well-known film festivals in the world such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Rotterdam, Sundance and Toronto are being presented at the Festival.

The Festival aims at familiarizing the public with film premieres as well as those pictures that have never been broadly distributed in Poland or have only been screened at film festivals. Filmmakers, industry reps and cinema lovers from Poland and abroad come to the Festival each year. With each edition it has been more and more widely commented on by the local media and Poland-wide as well as abroad and by the film industry media. It also attracts more and more accredited journalists.

Different Sopot Film Festival events are taking place simultaneously in some of the most important cultural venues of the city. Film screenings, meetings with filmmakers and workshops are organized in Multikino, Sopot National Art Gallery, Scena Kameralna Theatre, Na Plazy Theatre and in the Sopot Forest Opera.
