HOW IT WORKS

Every month we select 8 hours of short films which are going to be screened in our partner locations. It means that we choose between 20 and 60 short films per month. The awards are not available on a first come, first served basis. We will choose the films by their quality no matter when they are submitted.

Selection criteria for films may include the point of view or innovation of the screenplay, the technical or professional quality of filmmaking, the ground breaking or cutting edge theme of the film, the film’s length, its’ educational and/or entertainment value, the film’s insight into a way of life or culture, film reviews and/or awards garnered by the film, its official selection by film festivals, or the viewpoint of Program Committee members of SHORT FILM FACTORY.

We suggest you to submit your short film to PRESELECTION category first. If your film will be selected we will notify you and guide you through the next steps. Your fee is paid for your film to be considered. By no means does submitting your film guarantee that your film will be accepted for SHORT FILM FACTORY screenings. If your film is not accepted, your submission fee is not refunded. In order to get your film screened in all our partner locations you have to pay the SCREENING FEE. You can submit your film directly to this category but unfortunately we cannot refund a submission fee in case your film will not be selected. Please make absolutely sure you want to submit your film before doing so.

All types of short films are accepted: NARRATIVE, STUDENT, EXPERIMENTAL, ANIMATION, DOCUMENTARY, MUSIC VIDEO, MINI SHORT, CHILDREN, AMATEUR, COMMERCIAL, FASHION, VLOG, STOP MOTION, SERIES, WEB etc. Here are some examples of accepted film genres: Absurdist, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Advertising, Art-house, Biographical, Black Comedy, Classic, Children, Comedy, Crime, Dance, Detective, Drama, Cult, Epic, Family, Fantasy, Gangster, Horror, Independent, Indie, Noir, Historical, Kids, LGBT, Magical realism, Musical, Mystery, Melodrama, Road Movie, Philosophical, Political, Romance, Satire, Science Fiction, Silent Films, Slice of Life, Social, Sports, Superhero, Supernatural, Surreal, Suspense, Thriller, Urban, War (Anti-War), Western, Zombie etc

The running time of films entered for the competitions should not exceed 30 minutes (we have no minimum length limit).

Films in languages other than English will only be accepted with English subtitles.

Breaks: July, August, December, January 2021
-It can happen that one or more locations cannot host the screening on a specific month. We are not responsible for this matter but we will try to reschedule the specific screening for a later date.

Every month we select around 8 hours of short films for the live screenings held by our partner locations. So somewhere between 20 and 60 short films will be awarded by SHORT FILM FACTORY [by STTP].

All monthly selected films will receive the winner laurels of the festival. Being selected it means that your film is considered for the screenings. You just have to pay the screening fee to become a winner. So if you are selected you are already a winner. Simple as that.

All monthly awarded films will be screened in 5-40 locations across the world. Filmmakers can choose the venues where their films will be screened.
