About the festival

This year's condition that each entry should have is:

At least ONE SHOT OF FOOD PREPARATION.

Be creative with how you interpret that. It could be a central thing like a detailed scene of culturally preparing an ethnic feast or as simple as pouring a glass of wine.

Introduction

The Shanghai International Short Film Contest is not like conventional film festivals, it invites teams to undergo a one-month experiment in film making, teamwork, education, and cultural communication through film. For those in Shanghai during the contest, we sponsor professional workshops on various aspects of film making and film industry.

The contest calls for film makers of all sorts and all levels of ability to form teams to collaborate on making a film: from script and pre-production through shooting and post-production. The films will all be especially created for this event. A panel of academic and professional experts will judge the entries.

The short-listed films for the awards will be screened in the main collection at our main venue to the public. However, each film will be publicly screened in venues across the city. The short-listed films will also be screened in other select cities.

Best Film - USD$ 1000
FInal Draft Best Script - Final Draft 9
Meiwenti Indie Spirit Award -
