COMPETITION RULES “SANTIAGO HORROR INTERNATIONAL FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL”
NACIONAL & INTERNACIONAL CALL
Competitions:
FEATURE FILM / SHORT FILM / MUSIC VIDEO CLIP 2020
1. REQUIREMENTS
Thematic: Short films, feature films and music video clip must belong to the genre whether horror or fantastic. This also includes all sub genres (thrillers, documentaries, black humor, science fiction, etc…).
2. CONTEST CATEGORIES
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
For the following categories there will be a unique application form in FilmFreeway
Every category will have a unique application form detailed in chapter 4. REGISTRATION FORM that must be attached in .pdf to the postulation.
If the original language of the film is not Spanish, it must have subtitles in Spanish or English.
If the project is selected the owner of the rights authorizes the festival to use fragments of the material for promotional and advertising uses of the present edition.
The submission authorizes the festival to use the winner movies in traveling exhibitions in Chilean cities that will be made during the period between festivals.
FEATURE FILM:
The competition is aimed at the exhibition of films which belong to the genres whether fantastic, documentary or experimental, Chilean or foreign. All according to the formats established in the technical sheet. All the film that participate in this category cannot have been exhibited previously in Chile either broadcast medium or any kind of platform (it is not excluding in the application if the case warrants it).
The category is subdivided for the purposes of registration, programming and awards into:
- International Feature Film Competition
- National Feature Film Competition (Chile)
SHORT FILM:
The films should not to exceed 20 minutes as maximum duration. (Projects that exceed this time will also be evaluated. In case the quality justifies exceeding this limit).
The Short films are allowed to use any kind of audio-visual technique. For example, animation, video camera, stop motion, Cell phone camera etc…
The films will have to be submitted in a standard format compatible with most of the existing video players in the market or sent in high quality digital format.
The category is subdivided for the purposes of registration, programming and awards into:
- International Short Film Competition
- National Short Film Competition (Chile)
MUSIC VIDEO:
The competition is aimed at filmmakers, bands, video clip producers, independent artists and record companies.
The length of the video clip may not exceed 8 minutes (if more will be evaluated), with an antiquity since January 2018
It is not allowed to use materials / content which intellectual property rights are not submitted by exclusive owners or someone who has the legal authority to represent the owner of the rights.
Theme: horror, suspense, fantasy, myths and legends, science fiction.
The organization does not assume legal accusations that derive from unauthorized submission of copyrighted materials.
In the case of bands (application only in Chile), an authorization letter is required in which the reproduction of the material delivered to SHFF is allowed (which will be used for free exhibitions in the context of SHFF), indicating that no There are fines for this in addition to the use of photographic materials, or others registered under licenses.
This category will be subdivided for registration, programming and awards purposes in:
- International Video Clip Competition
- National Videoclip Competition (Chile)
Note: The prize will be awarded by the director of the Videoclip and if the Director is not present on the day of the award, the Galvano will be given to a representative of the Band.
Pre-selected video clips can be viewed at:
• The YouTube channel of the festival.
• SHFF in all its communications of the pre-selected video clips, finalists and winners will always use the link to the YouTube channel or Vimeo of the artist himself, he will never make personal use of the video clips.
3. HOW TO SEND
The projects must be sent with the registration form provided through the following means:

Film, application form and materials required by the page.
Material sent by mail, delivered by hand or delivered to a member of the production will not be accepted. The material delivered by these routes will be discarded automatically.
4. REGISTRATION FORM
The registration form must be submitted in .pdf file with the following data:
• Teaser and /or trailer
• Title
• Synopsis
• Duration
• Country
• Cover
• Director and production data
• Telephones (optional for contact on behalf of production)
• Email
• Data sheet
Official poster of the feature film, short film and video clip (if it has one) is required. It must be in a print size of at least 50x70 cm and a maximum of 70x100 cm with a print quality 300 PPP.
5. DEADLINES
The projects can be submitted to the festival under up these guidelines until September 01 - 2020.
6. THE JURY
The jury will be composed by film directors, festival’s staff, specialist in films critics and special international guests. In addition, there will be a vote from the audience.
7. EVALUATION CRITERIA
The festival commission will select according to the following criteria:
-Originality and creativity of work
-The relationship with the theme of the festival
- Artistic quality and script
As an exception, projects already presented at other festivals will be accepted. However, it must be declared in what events have been shown prior to this festival.
Works previously published on social networks, YouTube or any other public medium will not be accepted
8. SELECTION SYSTEM
The projects in competition will be announced publicly before the festival on different official platforms. And also the authors will be notified by email.
9. AWARDS
- Best feature film, jury vote.
- Best Feature Film, public attenders vote.
- Best Short Film, jury vote.
- Best Short Film, public attenders vote.
- Best Actor / Actress feature film.
- Best FX feature film.
- Best screenplay feature film.
The jury reserves the right to leave the category without winner if the quality of the works does not exceed minimum quality requirements.
10. SELECCIÓN Y FORMATOS
If your project is selected, you must send the master in Apple Pro Res HQ 422 or DCP format by download link and include embedded or external subtitles in SPANISH. If you do not meet these conditions the project will be disqualified.
11. PROJECTION AND PRIZES
The production will determine the order and date for showing the projects within the dates of the festival. It will also announce on the official platforms of SHFF the schedule and days.
12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The participants of the festival will accept a non-exclusive cession of the material to the organizing entity for its use in the different programmed activities of the festival.
13. DECLARATION OF KNOWLEDGE BASIS
The projects submitted to this festival have full knowledge of the rules and the acceptance of them is required to participate.
These rules are subject to possible modifications and / or annexes for reasons beyond the control of the organization.

BASES
“SANTIAGO HORROR FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE FANTÁSTICO”
CONVOCATORIA NACIONAL / INTERNACIONAL
COMPETENCIA LARGOMETRAJES / CORTOMETRAJES / VIDEO CLIP MUSICAL 2020
1. REQUISITOS DE LAS OBRAS
Temática: Los largometrajes, cortometrajes y videoclips musicales deben pertenecer a los géneros Fantástico o de Terror, incluyendo todos sus subgéneros y variantes (thrillers, documentales, humor negro, ciencia ficción, etc.).
2. CATEGORÍAS DEL CERTAMEN
CONSIDERACIONES GENERALES:
Para las categorías mencionadas existirá un formulario único de postulación en FilmFreeway
A la postulación se debe ajuntar archivo .pdf con contenido descrito en el punto 4 FICHA DE INSCRIPCIÓN.
Si el proyecto NO es del idioma español, este deberá llevar subtítulos en español o inglés.
La postulación al festival autoriza a este para usar fragmentos del material para usos promocionales y publicitarios de la edición presente.
La postulación al festival autoriza a este para usar a los ganadores del certamen en muestras itinerantes por ciudades chilenas que se harán durante el período entre festivales.
LARGOMETRAJES:
La competencia está orientada a la exhibición de películas de largometraje, en los géneros de fantástico, documental o experimental, chilenas o extranjeras, en los formatos establecidos en las bases técnicas. Los largometrajes que participen en esta categoría no podrán haber sido exhibidas con anterioridad en Chile, bajo ningún concepto y por ningún medio (no excluyente en la postulación, si el caso lo amerita).
Esta categoría se subdividirá para efectos de inscripción, programación y premiación en:
-Competencia Largometraje Internacional
-Competencia Largometraje Nacional (Chile)
CORTOMETRAJES:
Los trabajos presentados no podrán superar los 20 minutos, como duración máxima. (SHFF se evaluará trabajos enviados por sobre el tiempo establecido, no dejando fuera de concurso a los superen este tiempo, por la calidad de la obra).
Los trabajos pueden contar con cualquier tipo de técnica audiovisual que van desde la animación, teléfono móvil, cámara de vídeo, stop motion, etc.
Los trabajos se deberán entregar en un formato estándar compatible con la mayoría de los reproductores existentes en el mercado o enviar en formato digital de alta calidad.
Esta categoría se subdividirá para efectos de inscripción, programación y premiación en:
-Competencia Cortometrajes Internacional
-Competencia Cortometrajes Nacional (Chile)
VIDEO CLIPS:
La competencia es dirigida a realizadores, conjuntos musicales, productoras de videoclips, artistas independientes y compañías discográficas.
La duración del video clip no podrá exceder los 8 minutos (No excluyente), con una antigüedad desde enero 2018
Temática: horror, suspenso, fantasía, mitos y leyendas, ciencia ficción.
No está permitido utilizar materiales/contenidos sometidos a derechos de propiedad intelectual, del que no sean propietarios exclusivos quien los envié o su representante. La organización no asume las responsabilidades que se deriven de un uso no autorizado de materiales sometidos a copyright.
Se requiere en el caso de las bandas (solo aplica en Chile) inscritas en la SCD una carta de autorización donde cedan la reproducción del material entregado a SHFF (el cuál será utilizado para exhibiciones gratuitas en el contexto de SHFF), indicando que no hay fines de lucro en esta además de la utilización de materiales fotográficos, u otros registrados bajo licencias.
Esta categoría se subdividirá para efectos de inscripción, programación y premiación en:
- Competencia Videoclip Internacional
- Competencia Videoclip Nacional (Chile)
Nota: El premio será otorgado para el director del Videoclip y si no estuviese el Director el día de la premiación, el Galvano se le entregará a un representante de la Banda.
Los videoclips pre-seleccionados se podrán ver en:
• El canal de Youtube del festival.
• SHFF en todas sus comunicaciones de los videoclips pre-seleccionados, finalistas y ganadores siempre usará en el ámbito digital el link al canal de YouTube o Vimeo del propio artista, nunca hará uso personal de los videoclips.
• Se realizarán comunicados en las redes sociales del Festival – Facebook del Festival | Twitter del Festival | Instagram del Festival.
• Los videoclips pre-seleccionados estarán disponibles en la web del festival mediante links de YouTube/ Vimeo de los videos presentados para su visionado unos días antes de comenzar el evento.
3. FORMA DE ENVÍO
Los trabajos se deben enviar con la ficha de inscripción proporcionada a través de los siguientes medios:

Película, formularios y materiales requeridos por la plataforma.
No se aceptará material enviado por mail, entregado por mano o entregado a algún miembro de la producción. El material entregado por estas vías se descartará automáticamente.
4. FICHA DE INSCRIPCIÓN
La ficha de inscripción debe enviarse vía plataforma en formato de archivo de texto .pdf con los siguientes y datos:
• Teaser y/o trailer
• Título
• Sinopsis
• Duración
• País
• Carátula
• Datos del director y producción
• Teléfonos (optativo para contacto de parte de la producción)
• Dirección de correo electrónico
• Ficha técnica
Afiche oficial del largometraje, corto y video clip (si este lo tuviera), en un tamaño de impresión como mínimo de 50x70 cm y máximo de 70x100 cm, calidad de impresión 300 PPP.
5. PLAZO DE PRESENTACIÓN
Los trabajos se podrán presentar desde la publicación de estas bases hasta el día 1 de septiembre de 2020.
6. EL JURADO
El jurado estará compuesto por parte del staff del festival, directores de cine y miembros especializados en crítica de cine e invitados internacionales, además también contaremos con la votación del público.
7. CRITERIOS DE SELECCIÓN
La comisión del festival seleccionará según los siguientes criterios:
-Originalidad y creatividad del trabajo
-La relación con el tema del festival
-Calidad artística y guion
Como forma excepcional se aceptarán trabajos ya presentados en otros festivales, siempre declarando los circuitos anteriores a este festival.
No se aceptarán obras publicadas previamente en redes sociales, YouTube o cualquier medio público
8. SISTEMA DE SELECCIÓN
Los trabajos en competencia se anunciarán antes del festival en forma pública, a través de sus distintas plataformas, y también se notificará a los autores seleccionados a través de correo electrónico.
9. PREMIOS
- Mejor Largometraje, votación jurado
- Mejor Largometraje votación del Público
- Mejor Cortometraje, votación jurado
- Mejor Cortometraje votación del Público
- Mejor Actor / Actriz largometraje
- Mejor FX largometraje
- Mejor Guion largometraje
El jurado se reserva el derecho de dejar desierto el premio si la calidad de las obras no supera unos requerimientos mínimos de calidad.
10. SELECCIÓN Y FORMATOS
En el caso de ser seleccionado su proyecto deberá enviar por enlace de descarga el master en formato Apple Pro Res HQ 422 o DCP y debe incluir subtítulos incrustados o externos en ESPAÑOL. Si no cumple con estas condiciones el proyecto será descalificado.
11. PROYECCIÓN y PREMIOS
La producción determinará el orden y fecha de proyección de los trabajos. También anunciará en los medios y plataformas de SHFF el horario y días de proyección de estos.
12. PROPIEDAD INTELECTUAL
Los participantes del festival no tendrán la cesión no privativa del material a la entidad organizadora para su uso en las diferentes actividades programadas del festival.
13. DECLARACIÓN DE CONOCER LAS BASES
Los trabajos presentados en este festival tienen el pleno conocimiento de las bases y la aceptación de los requisitos para participar.
Las presentes bases están sujetas a posibles modificaciones y/o anexos por causas ajenas a la organización.
