For decades Santa Barbara has attracted and cultivated a melange of innovators from legendary shapers like Renny Yater, Al Merick & Matt Moore to some of the biggest names in surf history like Tom Curren, Bobby Martinez & George Greenough and continues to produce top-tier talent to this day. There is a certain element to the “Santa Barbara Surf Culture”, combining tradition with radical innovation, that has played an influential role in the international surf scene for over 50 years.
We are excited to celebrate this history by creating an exciting and inspirational 2-day event for attendees that includes surf films, pre-and-post film discussions and Q & A’s, speaker panels, sponsor exhibits, and festival parties that embody the diverse storytelling styles of filmmakers, artists, shapers and the infamous surfers who started it all.
November 8th, 2019 kicks off the first of the two-day festival this November. Films will be showcased at the celebrated Arlington Theater on State Street, with additional events scheduled throughout Santa Barbara.
