‘rolling ideas’ is the modern type of short film festival. It’s a mix between digital wave and retro style.
We live in a vintage world where everything around us has its digital correspondent. We watch our digital TV, we drive our digital cars, we speak on our digital mobile phones, we wake up after we hear a digital alarm, we go to sleep after chatting with our friends on the internet, and that’s not all. We are surrounded by digital. ‘rolling ideas’ is the vintage place where we can celebrate the digital culture.
‘rolling ideas’ film festival combines the past and the future with some unique concept, separated into two parts:
1. CONTEMPORARY ART CONCEPT - DAILY PROMOTION OF SHORT FILMS
Your short film deserves an audience. rollingideas.net is the place where your film can find new fans. We have developed an online platform where we started to promote monthly awarded short films. We will NOT showcase the full films online and we will NOT upload films online. We use the links provided by you and promote them. So if you have a public link of your film we will share it to our audience. If you don’t have a short film that is already public for online audience we will promote your trailer, an interview with the director/producer or an original review written by our film exerts.
2. RETRO ART CONCEPT - MONTHLY SUMMER SHORT FILM SCREENINGS (JUNE-SEPTEMBER)
Once a month, during the summer, our judging team selects the BEST FILMS OF THE MONTH and we screen them in the awesome place called UZINA FOTO. It’s a cultural space adapted in an abandoned factory. The interesting thing is that this factory was producing film for photo and video cameras before the digital era started to grow. Till 2004, Azo Mures was one of the biggest film production factories in the world, alongside Kodak and Fuji. The ‘rolling ideas’ monthly event lasts 5 days and includes a lot of activities: short film screenings, conferences, digital museum and exhibitions, workshops, street art, video mapping shows, music concerts and DJ live sets.
We suggest you submit your short to PRESELECTION category first. If your film will be selected we will notify you and guide you through the next steps. Unfortunately we cannot refund a submission fee once you’ve submitted your film. Please make absolutely sure you want to submit your film before doing so. Your fee is paid for your film to be considered. By no means does submitting your film guarantee that your film will be accepted for ‘rolling ideas’. If your film is not accepted, your submission fee is not refunded.
All types of short films are accepted: NARRATIVE, STUDENT, EXPERIMENTAL, ANIMATION, DOCUMENTARY, MUSIC VIDEO, MINI SHORT, CHILDREN, AMATEUR, COMMERCIAL, FASHION, VLOG, STOP MOTION, SERIES, WEB etc. Here are some examples of accepted film genres: Absurdist, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Advertising, Art-house, Biographical, Black Comedy, Classic, Children, Comedy, Crime, Dance, Detective, Drama, Cult, Epic, Family, Fantasy, Gangster, Horror, Independent, Indie, Noir, Historical, Kids, LGBT, Magical realism, Musical, Mystery, Melodrama, Road Movie, Philosophical, Political, Romance, Satire, Science Fiction, Silent Films, Slice of Life, Social, Sports, Superhero, Supernatural, Surreal, Suspense, Thriller, Urban, War (Anti-War), Western, Zombie etc
Every month, our jury selects the finalists through private screenings. All finalists will qualify for the monthly event.

Short films that will be considered winners will get winner laurels, they will enter the competition for monthly screenings and depending on their choice, they will get one of the following packs:

We will write a full interview with the director or the producer and we will promote it to our audience. We will promote your video link to our audience as well. It can be your film or your trailer. We will NOT showcase the full films online and we will NOT upload films online. We use the links provided by you and promote them. We suggest you submit your short to PRESELECTION category first. If your film will be selected we will notify you and guide you through the next steps.
D.WINNER FILM REVIEW
We will write a review of your film and we will promote it to our audience. We will promote your video link to our audience as well. It can be your film or your trailer. We will NOT showcase the full films online and we will NOT upload films online. We use the links provided by you and promote them. We suggest you submit your short to PRESELECTION category first. E.WINNER FULL PACKAGE
We will write a full interview with the director or the producer, we will write a review of your film and we will promote them to our audience. We will promote your video link to our audience as well. It can be your film or your trailer. We will NOT showcase the full films online and we will NOT upload films online. We use the links provided by you and promote them. We suggest you submit your short to PRESELECTION category first. The promotion of your films will be made to a +50k audience on rollingideas.net and on its partner platforms.
