About the festival

The Rob Knox Film Festival is held annually in Bexley, London. in memory of the actor who played Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Its aims are to
To raise the profile of positive behaviour by young people.
To provide an opportunity for locally made films to reach a wider audience.
To provide an opportunity for young people to see independent films from around the
world,
To provide learning opportunities for young filmmakers.
To identify films that tackle social issues or that could be used in an educational context.

It consists of an awards night at Cineworld, Bexleyheath, London. If we have sufficient entries prior to the early bird Entry stage we will look at finding additional screening venues.

The Rob Knox Film Festival 2020 will present 10 awards and these will be a crystal trophy and a certificate. The actual categories will be tailored to fit submissions but will include Best Film, Best Film under 5 minutes, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress. Other potential categories might be Best Editing, Cinematography, best music video, best web series, best comedy, best documentary, best social issue film, it really is dependant on the nature of the films submitted

The awards are a crystal trophy and a certificate.

Terms and rules

You are responsible for ensuring correct spelling and credits for the film. So please make sure that you spell names accurately.
We accept all genres, and we accept films of all lengths. By submitting your film you agree to the following;
That your film may be shown at any of the Festival’s venues on any of the festival days.
That you own the copyright of the film or you are authorised by the copyright holders to submit the film.
That you are authorised to use any music, archive footage or any other such material
that is contained within your film by the copyright holders. You may be required to provide written evidence of this.
That small portions of your film ( no more than 15 seconds) can be used for the purpose of advertising the festival.

a short list of five films will be screened on the awards night and they will be subject to an audience vote. The film can be of any genre and previous years have included drama. comedy, music, dance, poetry, horror, zombies, rom com, sci-fi

This category is aimed for films under 30 minutes including opening and closing credits.

This category is aimed at feature films of between 80 minutes and 120 minutes. We will however accept any films that are over 30 minutes. Any film selected for screening in this category is likely to be screened at a community venue, however this is subject to change, as we would obviously prefer to screen at a purpose built cinema.
