Regent Park Film Festival (RPFF), is a non-profit cultural and educational media arts organization. It is Toronto’s longest-running, free community film festival, and is the sole community film festival in Canada’s largest and oldest public housing neighbourhood. RPFF is dedicated to showcasing local and international independent works relevant to people from all walks of life. The key communities we serve are Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) communities, people who are low-income, people who live in social housing, and Regent Park residents. The films we present break stereotypes and show that no one place or person has just one story.
WE INVITE FILMS FOR THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
GENERAL PROGRAM: Feature and short works from Indigenous filmmakers, Black filmmakers and filmmakers of colour. We invite films that explore themes of difference and solidarity, immigrant experiences, urbanization, cultural identity and that resonate with the inner-city, community based, transnational and varied realities of Regent Park, as well as similar communities in Toronto, in Canada, and all over the world.
SCHOOL PROGRAM: Short films suitable for Grades 1-8, featuring themes relevant to and engaging for youth. This program encourages self-representation and seeks to promote dialogue among students, educators, filmmakers and the wider community.
