About the festival

QClub at QUAD, Derby are hosting their inaugural QClub Children and Young Peoples Film Festival on 17th October 2020.

Children and Young people aged 5 - 18 years old are invited to submit short films or animations between 3-15mins long.

If your film is accepted you will receive a family pass to the film festival in which you can gain access to the film screenings, our red carpet award ceremony and our closing celebration to be held at QUAD, Derby.

Throughout the day at QUAD there will be a variety of Animation and Digital Workshops for families to attend.

The Film Festival is curated by QClub Programme Curator alongside QClub children and young people.

The festival celebrates films and animations created by disabled young people, and those who face particular barriers in their lives, but we welcome submissions from all young people.

QClub is a BBC Children in Need supported project which runs at QUAD, Derby.

There will be a variety of awards including the Prestigous Audience Award and the Coveted QClub Award.

Terms and rules

Children and Young people aged 5 - 18 years old are invited to submit short films or animations (3-15mins long) which must fulfil the following requirements -

- The film or animation must be made by or with young people aged 5 - 18 years old.
- The film or animation needs to be between 3 - 15mins long.
- The film or animation can be in any genre but it MUSt be family friendly. If it wouldn't pass a PG cinema classification we will not be able to show it.

There are three age categories for submission -

Category One: Ages 5-8 years old

Category Two: Ages 9-13 years old

Category Three: Ages 14-18 years old

Family Passes for the film festival are for a maximum of five people.

Places for the QClub Children and Young Peoples film festival Workshops are limited and booking is essential.

Standard Entry Fee applies to arts organisations/museums//schools/colleges or academic institutions submitting work on behalf of students.

Student Fee applies to individuals aged 5 - 18 years old submitting their work..
