About the festival

This Quarter's Theme: Lesbian Film!

Hosted in Uptown, Chicago, Pride Films and Plays Film Festival is a quarterly film festival focusing on inclusion in the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Each quarter’s film festival is dedicated to the different members of the LGBTQ+ spectrum and offers queer folks the opportunities to tell their stories in an inclusive and celebratory way.

Pride Films and Plays Film Festival is open to all films, globally, as long as they follow LGBTQ+ themes.

Every film selected to screen at Pride Films & Plays Lesbian Film Festival will be provided with Official Selection Laurels.

Winners in each category will be provided with additional winner’s laurels after the closing of the festival.

Best Editing
Best Director
Best Music Video (if applicable)
Best Performance
Best Cinematography

The Best of Fest winner will receive one free Pride Films & Plays Film Festival statuette, along with winners laurels, an official certificate, and two comp tickets to Pride Films & Plays next show).

Other winners may order a statuette for themselves and their team, for a fee including shipping.

All winners receive a digital certificate, ready to print.

Terms and rules

Submit online ONLY on FilmFreeway

Films submitted MUST be lesbian-driven (at least one of the following):

1. Your executive crew (director, screenwriter, and/or producers) must be lesbian-identifying

2. Your film must be thematically lesbian

3. Your film must include openly lesbian performers

Your film MUST be submitted with a downloadable link, along with production stills and a downloadable trailer.

In regards to intellectual property, you are fully responsible for the clearance of any music, sound, images or graphics contained in your entry. If any record company or music publisher contacts us about an entry’s music rights, we will refer that company to you so be sure to obtain all the appropriate clearances beforehand.

It is in our discretion whether or not we choose to promote your film via our social media channels or website. This may include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or a blog. You agree to provide any and all promotional material

All content that is submitted in a language other than English is required to have English subtitles included.

Your film must have been made in 2016 or after.

By submitting you agree to our terms and conditions and give us permission to use your email address for marketing purposes.

You cannot withdraw your film after it has become an Official Selection.

Winners of Pride Films & Plays Trans Film Festival 2019 will be hosted on our Vimeo page after the conclusion of the festival. You agree to provide the necessary files, production stills and promotional materials requested.
