An annual competition for high school student filmmakers, the Phillips Academy Interscholastic Film Festival seeks to enable and inspire student filmmakers by providing an opportunity to network and view outstanding student films.

While submissions are limited strictly to directors who currently attend high school or are of equivalent age, the day of the festival is open for all to enjoy. Filmmakers are encouraged to read the full official guidelines before submitting.

Audience Choice and Judges’ Choice designations will be awarded for each screening.

Submission Deadlines:
Call for Entries Opens: January 1, 2017
Early Deadline: February 15, 2017
Regular Deadline: March 15, 2017
Late Deadline: March 31st, 2017
EXTENDED DEADLINE!! April 6th, 2017
Notification: April 19th, 2017
Festival: May 6th, 2017

Eligibility
The film’s director(s) must have been enrolled in High School of have been of equivalent age at time of submission.
All music and other copyrighted material used in your film must be properly licensed.
All films must be in English or subtitled in English.
All films must be suitable for a high-school-aged audience. Excessive graphic violence and nudity is prohibited.

Categories
Feature: all films 30 minutes or longer.
Short: all films shorter than 30 minutes.

DETAILS:

FilmFreeway will be used to accept festival submissions. There is no submission fee.

The brief synopsis you submit when filling out your online application will be used in the festival guide, on the festival website and for other promotions, so write a concise and compelling description of your film.

PAIFF reserves the right to edit the synopsis for length and grammar.

If your film is selected to be part of PAIFF, you will be notified via email on or before April 19th, 2017. You will also be notified by email if your film is not selected.

Selected films must be sent in as an exhibition copy no later than April 23rd, 2017. Specific details to follow, if applicable.
