Dear Filmmakers,

On behalf of People of Color International we are inviting you to participate and screen your film project(s) during our first annual international cultural exchange, where we will be presenting films, media artists, technologists as well as social networking events on April 24th and 25th, 2020 at City College of New York (CCNY) in Harlem.

People of Color International’s aim is to promote films worldwide about people who represent the “terms” Black, Brown, Tan and Yellow, as well as marginalized people who may identify as a Person of Color. The films that we will be screening should have a progressive perspective on cultures that are often stereotyped or overlooked in mainstream media.

This event is also in celebration of City College of New York’s 100th anniversary of founding the oldest continuing documentary film school in the United States. As alumni of CCNY’s Film Department and fellow Filmmakers, we are honored to highlight the best of progressive alternative cinema. We are also collaborating with New York University’s (NYU) and Columbia University’s Film Departments (students, faculty and alumni), and promoting films from these 3 entities as well as Independent Filmmakers from various countries to universities and film schools overseas.

By participating you are advancing the cultural elements that often are overlooked in mainstream cinema. Directors are invited to attend the event and promote their works post-screening. Please send us links of your film(s) for an immediate review by our jury panel, no later than Feb 28th, 2020.

We are committed to connecting cultures through the language of cinema. Films selected for the NYC event on April 24th and 25th, 2020 will be screened at universities in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. One goal of People of Color International is to educate people at a student level, especially those in media, in order for them to have a sincere experience of cultures and advance a progressive perspective.
