About the festival

Since 2005, East Tennessee State University has hosted a curated showcase of work from animators of all skill levels—from all corners of the world. Every summer, the Overmountain Animation team (students and faculty of ETSU's Digital Media department) gathers entries from around the world and organize screenings of the films in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee. Every animation is judged by a panel of industry professionals to award a winner in each of the Student, Professional, Independent and Audience Choice categories plus a Critic's Choice award goes to the best animation overall. Animations will be scored based on criteria such as artistic merit, story, technical proficiency and more. The submissions will be ranked based on these scores, The gift prizes are sponsored by ETSU's Department of Digital Media.
