ELIGIBILITY

Please read this section carefully!

The NYITFF showcases film/video/web content created by NYC theatre artists.

At least one Primary Creative Artist for the film/video/web content must be a Theatre Artist working in New York City.

Primary Creative Artist for the content means writer, director, or producer. "Does the theatre artist involved own the content?" is a question we will examine.

Theatre Artist is defined as:

Actor, Director, Designers, Producers: 1 production in the five boroughs of NYC since 2017. Student productions are NOT eligible.

Playwrights: 1 production, workshop, reading in the five boroughs of NYC since 2017. Student productions are NOT eligible.

We want to see theatre artists stretching themselves, trying new things. Perhaps things they don't have extensive training for. Or maybe they do, but they also have a body of theatre work, as well.

Film artists have many festivals where they can have their work screened. This festival is for NY theatre artists. That makes sense, right?

We understand that "created by theatre artists" is a little vague, and the determination of New Ohio Theatre is final. Application fees are non-refundable.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Online submissions are required, either via a password protected Vimeo link or uploaded directly to FilmFreeway.

PREMIERES

While the NYITFF does not require submissions to be world premieres or New York City premieres, we will prioritize the acceptance of submissions which are premieres.

WORKS IN PROGRESS

Works-in-progress are accepted. Incomplete projects must be clearly labeled. Films should be marked as either a “Rough Cut” or “Work In Progress”. All incomplete materials or changes to be made should be clearly indicated (ex: temporary sound, no color-correction).

The entrant may update their screener up until the final deadline, as long as the link and password for the submission remains the same. However, NYITFF is only responsible for considering the project as it exists at the time of review.

No updated cuts will be accepted after the final submission deadline. If selected, the final version of the film must be available by January 6, 2020.

SCREENING FEES

The New York Indie Theatre Film Festival does not pay screening fees. By submitting your content, you acknowledge that the festival will not pay to present your work.

COPYRIGHT & LEGAL TERMS

By entering your film for consideration to the New York Indie Theatre Film Festival, you authorize that your work is cleared for festival exhibition and accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property therein. The submitter and all filmmakers associated with the project shall indemnify and hold harmless the New York Indie Theatre Film Festivall, New Ohio Theatre, and any representative or affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.

Should your film be accepted in the New York Indie Theatre Film Festival, you grant NYITFF the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

All accepted films will screen at least once during the festival, with the option of an encore screening for select films/shorts blocks. All scheduling is purely at the discretion of NYITFF staff.
