About the festival

The Mullingar International Film Festival, inaugurated in 2020, celebrates, honours and promotes the art of storytelling through film from emerging and established Irish and International filmmakers. We love film and our audience loves film so we encourage drama, comedy and documentary from Ireland and abroad. Our Film Festival is a one night gala screening which last year was attended by over 600 paying guests, the proceeds of which were donated to charity. The event is a fantastic opportunity for filmmakers to screen their work in front of a real world live audience from the community and the business world, meet and greet the fans, make new friends and valuable contacts within the industry. Submit your films for a chance to be screened in front of a live audience at this wonderful event.

Winners will be presented with a specially commissioned award at the Gala event and will be expected to attend in person or have a representative attend to accept your award and make an acceptance speech. Preference will be given to filmmakers who commit to attending the festival.
Awards will be presented for the following categories;

1) Best Overall Short Film
2) Best Irish Comedy
3) Best International Comedy
4) Best Irish Drama
5) Best International Drama
6) Best Irish Documentary
7) Best International Documentary
8) Film with local interest or connections.
9) Out of competition
