CALL FOR ENTRIES
Mobile Journalism Awards recognizes excellence in non-fiction storytelling produced with smartphones, mobile and pocket cameras.

The judges for the first competition were:

The finalist's films will premiere in an online format due to the global pandemic.

These films are meant to be screened in April at the International Journalism Festival where more than 5,000 journalists gather in Perugia, Italy. We plan to be able to screen winners once again at the event and in cinemas in the post-pandemic future.

Winners will be announced at the global awards show.
Prizes will be issued from sponsors like the Smart Film School, Røde, Luma-Touch, and Shure.

Terms and rules

* All films must include English subtitles (unless the spoken language is English) .

- Films may include shots made with action cams or drones up to a maximum 30% of the total duration of the project.

- Entries may be recorded with any combination of smartphone, mobile and pocket cameras.

Submitted your entries before the final deadline date of January 22, 2020.

Multiple submissions
- You may submit more than one project and it also may be entered in more than one category.

- Judges will not move entries between categories.

- All submissions must be original and not include any intellectual property protected by outside copyrights.

Music
- If music is used, it must be 'rights-cleared,' public domain, creative commons, or original compositions. Verification may be requested by the jury.

Consent
- Entrants consent to the use of their films or videos for live screenings that are part of this competition.
- Entrants further consent to allow entries to be curated and shared for educational purposes.

Verification
All entrants must attest that they are submitting work produced with mobile gear and apps. Judges can choose to disqualify entries that cannot be verified.

- Non-fiction subject Between 3 and 10 minutes in length on any topic. Must be reported using observational narrative ethics. e.g. No staging, No scripting, and No casting allowed.

Innovation prize

• Submit a video that explains your project. A project that stretches the boundaries of innovation. (For example: Creatively exploit a unique feature or failing of mojo, Code a killer Mojo app, or assign 12 reporters to Mojo swarm an event using only smartphones) The judges are looking for amazingly experimental ideas that can inspire others. Present your project in video form. You can explain it, demo it, show the impact, etc.)
