About the festival

**Update as of 5/19/20**
The intent of SciFi Miami is to showcase the best in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Comedy, and other imaginatively-themed films from around the world. This celebration is set in the trendy and progressively global megalopolis of Miami Florida. Our creative and inspirational environment is ideal to explore films that ponder the infinite possibilities our multiverse holds.

There will be workshops and a panel. In addition to this eight season, the Film Market is open. We have several distributors in attendance to purchase shorts and feature content.

MiSciFi 2020 was virtual and a success. The entire festival was 3-days in a virtual environment. The online attendees reached a magnitude more than previous physical events.

We are planning and preparing for a physical festival in the 1st quarter of 2021. However, if Covid-19 is not sufficiently ‘under control’ to operate safely, the festival will move to a virtual space.

MiSciFi has pledged to temporarily waive any premiere status or completion date requirements for this year and next year’s festival. Seed & Spark Film Festival Survival Pledge (https://try.seedandspark.com/film-festival-pledge/).

Software and Service Awards from our sponsors, agents, manufacturers and production companies. Software awards packages include;
BorisFX, InkTip script listings, New BlueFX, Final Draft, GenArts, Red Giant, Sapphire, plus MORE!

Best Sci-Fi Short, Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Afrofuturism, Best Music Video, Best Web Series, Best Horror, Best Thriller, Best Fantasy, Best Anime', Best MicroDoc, Best Made in Florida, Best Comedy, Best Student Short, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack, Best Score, Audience Choice Award, Honorable Mention, Plus More!

Screenplay awards include software from Final Draft and 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners plus finalists will have a page performed from their screenplay in a true staged format with costume and thematic music. We are the only festival that performs this activity, watch some of our photos and videos.

Terms and rules

Content submitted to the SciFi Miami festival will be promoted on our website, in printed materials (such as the festival program) and in our press and marketing activity (this can include presenting films that we have selected to the press). The filmmaker gives us the right to use the name of the film, the images submitted for the uses listed. We also inquire if the filmmaker wants to screen their film at tours or similar activities; as we often get asked to provide guest spots at other festivals and events.

Once a film is officially accepted to the festival, the filmmaker can no longer withdraw it from the festival lineup. The filmmaker is also responsible for submitting the screening materials at least four weeks before the festival. If the screening will be a world premiere, please let us know as we will do our best to promote to the local community, and please keep us abreast of production and marketing activities!

Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt (about 1 minute or less) from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival or its assignees, from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
