About the festival

The Martha's Vineyard Film Festival was founded over 18 years ago to gather people in the off-season to celebrate film, food, music, and art. Since that time, it has grown into one of Martha’s Vineyard’s premiere cultural institutions.

This year we produced 62 events and sold over 11,000 tickets. Over the past few seasons, Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Schumer, Spike Lee, Katie Couric, Henry Louis Gates Jr., former Secretary of State John Kerry, and Noam Chomsky have all attended with films. Conversations with guests like these and many other inspiring people, help us realize or mission to spark discussion, debate, and action.
