THIS IS A STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL. The Festival is open to students enrolled in grades 6-12 during the 2016-2017 school year and who attend a school in Southern California.
The Malibu Teen Film Festival is an outlet for young talented film makers to share their passion for film making with the Malibu community and network with other film makers including professionals.
The Malibu Teen Film Festival was created by the Malibu Youth Commission and supported by the Malibu City Council as a form of creative expression for students who make films. Selected entries will be exhibited on a large screen at the Malibu Civic Theater for a general audience.
An educational approach will be given to students (Frades 6-12) by providing an opportunity for them to attend film workshops on Saturdays, September 17, September 24 and October 1 in Malibu. Students will be able to learn about directing, cinematography, screen writing, editing and producing from professionals in the business. RSVP required by visiting the festival's website. Space is very limited.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall.
Official Selection will take place December 2016; all Official Selection films will be recognized.
The top three films will be selected January 4, 2017. If your film is selected you must be present at the screening January 13, 2017 to receive your prize.
*Please note for group submissions there will be one prize.
