About the festival

An absolute bash of a two-day fest, LOCALS ONLY showcases the Pacific Northwest film community in a celebration of discount 35mm lenses, DIY light bounces, and running out of SD cards. Independent filming is a tough job, and PNW filmmakers show their best work at the Capitol Theater. With a local panel or two on film education, LOCALS ONLY strives to be both a showcase and learning opportunity for local filmmakers and lovers of the art form.

Locals Only is hosted around the Olympia, Washington downtown area, mainly inside the Capitol Theater, a 1924 concert and movie palace owned and operated by the Olympia Film Society. This organization supports a small staff and board of directors along with over 125 dedicated volunteers who select films, organize events, and run the Capitol Theater.

Best entries will be screened during the Locals Only Film Festival at the Capitol Theater September 14 - 15, 2019.

Special audience award laurels will be given for documentary, narrative, and short films.
