SHORT FILM COMPETITION
"Your Shorts are Showing"

Now in its 20th year, the Lake Placid Film Festival (LPFF) has consistently delivered a combination of feature length, documentary, short and student films and our annual event includes conversations, panels, seminars, filmmakers, producers, directors, actors, screenwriters and special events.

Lake Placid is located in the heart of the Adirondack Park. Throughout the years, the LPFF has featured and hosted academy award winning directors such as Guillermo Del Toro, John Sayles, Milos Forman, Norman Jewison and Martin Scorcese. Actors including Debra Winger, Kyra Sedgwick, John Favreau, Matthew Modine, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cliff Robertson, Peter Riegert, Steve Buscemi, Tony Shalhoub, Patricia Clarkson, Campbell Scott and William Defoe...to name a select few.

This is where you come in. We want to showcase your amazing short films and invite you to submit your film(s) for competition in our 2020 fest to be judged. We plan to select up to a maximum of 50 "Official Selections" and select 10 "Finalists" and from this group, select an Overall Winner GOLD receiving $500, 2nd Place SILVER $250 and 3rd Place BRONZE $100. The short films may be from 2 minutes to 15 minutes in length in any category or subject matter. Please review our rules and terms and let us know if you have any questions. This years judges include:
Eric P. Granger- Award winning screenwriter and founder of Aracari Films and Costa Rica Locations.
Nelson Page - Motion picture exhibitor for 33 years and owned and operated 12 theaters in 4 states. Presently he serves as President of the Barrymore FilmCenter which is due to open in 2021.
Charlene Trotter - Founder and co-director of the Tri-State Film Festival, performed in numerous plays and musicals, cohost and creator of an award winning radio talk show in NY, and has extensive experience marketing and promoting film related projects and organizations throughout the northeast.
Paul Frederick - Founder of Paul Frederick Productions with 20 years experience in film production.

Unfortunately, in this year of Covid 19, we will not be able to Showcase your films live. We will promote and praise our finalist and winners on all of our social media sites and press releases.

Terms and rules

* SHORT Films Only
* All Genres
* No incomplete films accepted
* No refunds
* All film submissions must go through FilmFreeway
* Films must be in English or have English sub-titles
* Digital submissions only, either on VIMEO, YouTube and/or other online sources
* No DVD or Blue-Rays accepted
* Submissions must be between 2 and 15 minutes in length including titles and credits.
* No limit to number of submissions per filmmaker, but each require entry fee.
* Submitted films should have been completed on or after January 1, 2019
* No premier requirements
* UP TO 50 "Official Selections" will be notified on or before September 30, 20120 through FilmFreeway
* Top 10 Finalists will be announced by September 30th
* 1st Place-GOLD, 2nd Place-SILVER & 3rd Place-BRONZE winners will be announced ay, October 21, 2020.

RELEASE: The Adirondack Film Society (AFS) and the Lake Placid Film Festival (LPFF) is granted permission and the right by the submitter, whether an individual or corporation to use excerpts, quotes, stills, titles, photos and footage for promotional purposes prior to, during and after the LPFF 2020. In addition, the AFS and LPFF is granted permission and the right to use photos, footage and other materials gathered during the event for promotional purposes in perpetuity. Promotion may include, but not be limited to, AFS & LPFF websites, e-communications, social media, TV, internet, radio and print sources. The submitter provides AFS & LPFF with indemnity and release from any/all liabilities, losses, damages, claims and expenses relating to any trademark, copy-write, credits, publicity and screening.

The Adirondack Film Society and the Lake Placid Film Festival reserves the right to modify scheduling, venues and other events of the Lake Placid Film Festival 2020.
