Inward Eye Film Festival is held within the stunningly beautiful surroundings of the Lake District. Taking place within the first week of November, 2020 will be the festival's 2nd edition after a successful first year in 2019.
The festival itself takes its name from the Lake's most famous artist, William Wordsworth. The poet's now infamous poem, 'Daffodils', is where he talks about the 'Inward Eye', alluding to individual imagination and artistic spirit. It is in this spirit that Inward Eye was founded in the hope of sustaining arts within the North East and promoting independent filmmaking.
Held within Ambleside's Zeffirellis Cinema, the festival also contains a flashback element, so keeping with the cinematic history that Zeffirellis holds dear. Actor Brian Cox (Succession) is also the festival's patron, having thought of the event on a visit to the cinema in 2017.
There is also a Writers Workshop for script development with industry experts that is held with Wordsworth's old family home at Rydal Mount. Last year, Peter Webber (dir, Girl With The Pearl Earring), Vicki Jung, and Henry Fitzherbert (screenwriter of Slaughterhouse Rulez and Born a King) were the mentors.
The festival is an intimate and has a free flowing ethic, with drinks, singing, jazz, and networking events in the evening held at Zeff's bar in the cinema. IEFF invites one and all to submit their films! The film community in Ambleside is strong and welcoming, and would love to invite you to showcase your films at such a unique event held within such stunning surroundings.
Onward, Upward, Inward,
