About the festival

The International Short Film Festival Winterthur is Switzerland’s largest short film festival. The festival takes place each year in November. It is a popular audience event and an important platform for European short films.

Grand Prize CHF 12,000 (~ 10,000 EURO) for the best short film of the Competition;

Award for the Best Swiss Film CHF 10'000.– donated by suissimage/SSA;
The audience awards the Audience Prize worth 10,000 CHF (~ 8,300 EURO).

The winners of the Main Awards of the International and Swiss Competition can apply for the OSCAR® Award for Best Short Film. Excluded from this are documentary films.

The films must have been completed in 2020 or 2021.
Runtime must not exceed 30 minutes (40 minutes for the Swiss Competition).
Commissioned works made for advertising or PR purposes are not eligible.
Films submitted for the Swiss Competition must be a world premiere.
