About the festival

*Please note that Indie-Lincs is working out our strategy for 2021 due to Covid19. We will not run in February as normal. Please call back in January for more information.

Entering its sixth year, Indie-Lincs is an International film festival that champions low and micro budget films, and their filmmakers.

We are particularly interested in fiction, documentary and animated films across the genre range of thriller, horror, sci-fi, drama and comedy. You will not find sequels, remakes or book adaptations here. Our aim is to help the best independent filmmakers from around the world showcase their original work and network successfully with their audience, other filmmakers and the independent film-making community.

We are looking for dynamic, inventive and challenging films that embody the low and micro budget film-making ethic.

Films will screen in Lincoln in 2021 (TBC). Based at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre, the festival is sponsored by The National Lottery via the BFI Film Audience Network, Lincoln School of Film & Media, and Lincoln Film Society. Films will compete for prizes in several categories. These prizes take the form of an 'IMP'.

The Lincoln Imp is the emblem for our city, and resides high up on a stone pillar in the city's magnificent gothic Cathedral. The mischievous Imp is the perfect embodiment of the independent filmmaker's spirit, someone who dares to upset the equilibrium and do things their own way.

The Angry IMP - Award for most challenging Film
The Big IMP - Award for best Feature Film
The Little IMP - Award for best Short Film (both UK and International)
The Baby IMP - Award for best Student Film
The Thespian IMP - Award for best Actor or Ensemble
