The Italian Contemporary Film Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated cultural events of the summer in Toronto and across Canada. Having assembled a loyal base of nearly 50,000 attendees per year, the ICFF, established in 2012 as a small festival showcasing less than 10 films, has transformed into a nine-day celebration of Italian excellence. Today, it is one of the leading and most successful festivals of its kind, and the largest Italian film festival outside of Italy.
Every year in June, Italian Heritage Month, ICFF screens dozens of films, including shorts and documentaries, in eight cities across the country: Toronto, Vaughan, Hamilton, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa and Vancouver. Most films are presented in Italian with English or French subtitles. But the ICFF is much more than simply a film festival… It is a unique exploration of Italian arts and culture. With special events highlighting the best of Italian food, wine, fashion, music, literature, architecture and industry developments, ICFF is committed to celebrating Italian heritage, and bringing together artists and entrepreneurs from around the globe and connecting them with our diverse audience.
Each year, the ICFF is proud to present an inspiring lineup of films - the best from newly released Italian and international cinema. Using the power of the moving image to both entertain and educate, ICFF has become a driving force in the film industry, and has lead to the creation of numerous successful co-productions, as it continually strives to bridge the path between Europe and North America.
The 9th Annual ICFF awards are:
People’s Choice Award – The best feature film chosen by the audience will be announced on the last day of the festival.
Critics’ Award – The best feature film as selected by a jury composed by members from the Toronto Film Critics Association.
ICFF Best Short Film Award – The jury of Canadian experts will vote and select one short film that provides exciting and engaging storytelling to receive this award as well as CAD $1,000.
Special Award – For the feature film that best promotes the Italian-Canadian social and cultural values.
