HOLLYWOOD SHORTS Film Festival is a monthly screening program that celebrates the outstanding achievements in short filmmaking and animation from both U.S. and international directors and their creative teams. Over 100 short and animated films are programmed year round, and submissions are accepted throughout the year. Our screenings are held at The Attic, the modern cinema lounge located in the heart of Hollywood.
HOLLYWOOD SHORTS launched in October 1998 at a music venue in Los Angeles called THE JOINT. The overflowing crowd packed the house, and filled the sidewalk outside watching films by David Fickas & Mark Kelly, Frank Tota, and animation by Joe Pearson. The next month, Variety Magazine wrote a small piece about the next screening, and we were officially a member of the film festival community. Since that night, HOLLYWOOD SHORTS quickly became one of the most popular short film series in Los Angeles.
ANNUAL SPOTLIGHT SCREENINGS:
Our annual Spotlight Screenings began as part of our monthly series, and have grown to become their own stand alone events. The annual and bi-annual festivals are dedicated to showcase specific groups of filmmakers we believe deserve an opportunity to step into the forefront to share their work with the film and television community. Our SPOTLIGHT events include the African American ShortsFest, Women Filmmakers Shortsfest and our bi-annual Animation Celebration.
HOLLYWOOD SHORTS is a non-competitive monthly industry showcase.
