About the festival

We are looking for hungry, passionate filmmakers who are looking to exhibit their short films and build their reputations. We aim to showcase as many films as possible through our showcase events, film festival event and online. We strongly advocate student films however we are now extending submissions to non-students as well.

The Fylde Film Festival is entering its second year after a hugely successful debut year which saw 1,588 films from students from all over the world submitted. Previously named the Fylde Film Showcase, we have changed the format of the festival, taking it from a singular showcase event to a competition based festival with brand new categories and awards as well as 3 pop-up showcase events in the months leading up to the festival. We have relocated to a prestigious new venue situated on the world renowned Blackpool Promenade called Viva Blackpool, a multi-purpose entertainment complex which will allow the festival more space and greater hospitality.

We want to expose your films to the public as much as possible; therefore our showcase events will be located in various locations in the centre of Blackpool; Viva Vegas Diner (April 13th-14th), Houndshill Shopping Center (March 17th-18th), Blott Art Gallery (May 14th - Daytime). Any submissions before these dates have an increased opportunity of being displayed however it is not guaranteed. Filmmakers will be notified that their film has been selected for any showcase dates and the festival event itself.

Films that have been nominated for their respected category will be notified on the 27th of April.

See our rules and terms for run times for each category. For any other questions and enquiries email contact@fyldefilmfestival.com

On The Night
Nominees will be selected for each category, with the final 4 trailers being shown on the night before the winner is revealed. Once the winner has collected their award, their film will be shown in full to the audience. A running order for the night will be released prior to the festival date online through email, website and social media.
