About the festival

"FLICKS 4 CHANGE" - Is an interactive film festival with a social conscience. Our mission is to give filmmakers a platform to have their artistic and humanitarian voices heard, while bringing attention to important social issues. The majority of profits will go towards: 1) non-profits supporting the social issues brought to light through the festival’s films; and 2) the awards for the winning filmmakers.

Flicks 4 Change will also provide a forum to discuss both the films, and the social issues raised after the screening. We are calling on the filmmaking community to use its creativity to inspire change through art. We hope the festival will act as a springboard – the beginning of a ripple effect for continued progress on important social issues.

What qualifies as a "SOCIAL ISSUE"?
Any film addressing a humanitarian, environmental, legal,or cultural challenge facing mankind will be considered. Examples include, homelessness, our political system or election process, gun laws, equal rights, sex trafficking, global warming, alcoholism, drug addiction, clean water, social media, HIV and other infectious diseases, and our healthcare system to name a few.

What genres and formats of films does Flicks 4 Change accept?
All genres including drama, comedy, satire, animation, documentary, sketch / mock commercial, and music video between 0:30 seconds and 30 minutes will be considered. Filmmakers with low / no budget projects are also encouraged to submit provided that sound and lighting allow for the media to be screened successfully so that your story, message, and voice are heard. For us, your ability to tell a compelling story while featuring a timely social issue is most important.

THE EVENT: The Festival will consist of a full day program of short and feature length films, discussions and networking. After each of the finalist films is screened, the filmmakers will partake in a Q&A, focusing on the message behind the films. Leaders and major supporters of organisations related to the evening’s film content will also be present to facilitate the discussion. Audience involvement is highly encouraged in these panels.

Celebrity Judges will adjudicate and present the awards to the winners and audience favorites. We hold the utmost respect and admiration for every team that submits their project and so generously shares their vision with the Flicks 4 Change community.

VENUE: TBA - Los Angeles
Arrive early on for our red carpet welcome, live music by local bands to bring you in, our stellar film program, and a discussion panel providing an opportunity to speak with the filmmakers and fellow audience members in a more casual setting around the bar. After our discussion panel concludes, you can expect live music again to keep the party going.

We thank you for getting involved in making a positive change in the world and our filmmaking community. Whether that means reading about this event, buying a ticket to the screening, or submitting a project, we appreciate your time, and artistic and altruistic contribution. In order to make a positive impact on our community, we have to create together, and communicate collectively. And there’s no more important time than right now.
