About the festival

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J. ⎼ The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council’s FilmOneFest is partnering with Monmouth University to host their third annual Film Slam at Monmouth’s Lauren K. Woods Theatre at 370 Cedar Avenue, West Long Branch, N.J. on April 20-21, 2018 starting at 7 pm. The Film Slam is a free 24-hour filmmaking competition in which teams of any size compete to create an original film under two minutes in length that includes specific elements assigned to them. At the start of the competition all teams will receive a prop, location, and line of dialogue that they must incorporate into their film. Teams will have exactly 24 hours to complete their film and deliver the finished product back to the Woods Theatre by Saturday evening. National and International teams compete in addition to local teams, and receive their instructions and submit their films virtually.

Films will be judged on originality, creative inclusion of the prop, dialogue, and location, production value, and strength of storytelling. The winning team receives a $250 cash prize. A $200 prize for Audience Choice Award will also be awarded. The top three winning films will be featured on the big screen at the 2018 FilmOneFest on Sat., July 21, 2018 in Atlantic Highlands Marina.
