About the festival

What is it?

FICSU is an international film festival that shows movies that have surfing as the theme (or that it is important for the narrative told). Films of all genres, formats, length and production regions are accepted, as long as they are made from January 1, 2017. Older films can be invited directly by FICSU curators. The festival happens in Ubatuba, north coast of São Paulo, southeast Brazil.

Dates

Entries will be held from March 9 to April 9, 2020.
FICSU takes place from June 11 to 14, 2020.
The directors will be notified of the selection by email until May 15, 2020.

FICSU will not give cash prizes.
There will be 5 trophies, 1 of popular jury and 4 of specialized jury.

Praia Grande Award - Ubatuba's most popular beach, a prize for the most popular film.

Sununga Award - a different beach, good for skimboarding, waves hit the stone and come back, an award for an innovative film that changes the way we see things.

Vermelhinha Award - a more radical surf beach, with waves that break close to the sand, a prize for a more radical film, that takes us to the limit.

Itamambuca Award - a beach that appeals to all, with regular waves, all year long, a prize for a complete film, with a good narrative, well done in all its aspects.

Perequê-Açú Award - a beach where the Ubatuba surf school is, ideal for beginners, an award for first-time filmmakers (first or second film).
