About the festival

Every week there are hundreds of short films that are being produced. Most of them settle down for YouTube screening. Every movie producer/director dream of screening their movie in a theatre, but they never get a chance. Festellen is that opportunity, where we bring the best of short film talents on the big screen.

Festellen....The word itself denotes festival of short films. It is a celebration of talents. Through Festellen we try to bring out the finest of new skills in a competitive manner; as without a challenge it’s hard to get a good creation. Hence there is a professional judging panel that is focussed on getting the crème de la crème.
Selection of the movie
Every movie goes through a stringent selection procedure. A panel of randomly selected cine-lovers watch every entry that is sent. They rate each movie for its uniqueness and its power to grip the audience. The top 100 movies are then played to a panel of movie professionals who select a maximum of 50 movies based on their superior technicalities. These movies are finally screened in a HD Theatre of high quality: Bangalore Movies, to a panel of celebrity judges and audience, who select the winners. With almost 1000 entries in three different languages and about 150 winners, Festellen has always stayed true to its intention of inception. Khais Millen, Lijo Thomas and Viyaan Vishnu’s movies won Best short film of the year respectively from 2014 to 2016. Judges also hand out special mention awards for new or best techniques presented in the season.

The entries range from social cause to romance to thriller to comedy. Every award is recognized with a certificate and the best film with a cash award plus a certificate.

Festellen was started solely to support and promote fresh talents who are looking to exhibit their skill on a large screen.
