37th edition of the European Film Festival of Lille
During spring of 2021
REGULATIONS
The 37th edition of the European Film Festival of Lille will take place from in spring 2021. The European Film Festival of Lille is organized by the association Prix de Court. The official selection will consist of about 60 short films, all equally screened during the Festival.
1. Registration conditions
Are allowed to compete:
- Films completed in 2019 or 2020
- Films with a running time of less than 30 minutes and 59 seconds
- Films whose director and/or producer is/are European. If the film was made by several directors or producers, at least one of them must be European.
Are NOT allowed to compete:
- Films which have been already submitted during the past years, as a film can only be submitted once to the Selection Committee
- Video clips
- Promotional films
All shooting format are accepted.
The following projection formats are accepted: H264, Prores 422 (LT).
2. Registration and selection
Registrations are made on the online submission websites www.filmfreeway.com. All registrations are to be made online. It is no longer required to send a signed registration form.
NB: if the spoken dialogs of the film are not in French nor English, the short film must have French or English subtitles.
Registration begins on August 7th, 2020.
Registration deadline is on December 27th, 2020.
In order to send us the viewing file, there are two available options: online or by mail.
- Online :
You must register on the online submission websites www.filmfreeway.com.
During your registration, you have to make the choice to upload your film on the platform. The Selection Committee will be able to watch it through a streaming video or to download it from websites. With this option, there is no need to send a DVD by mail.
The Selection Committee also accepts to receive (via email: heloise.tisserand@prixdecourt.net) a link permitting to watch a streaming video of the film (such as Vimeo, Youtube…).
- By mail :
You must register on the online submission website www.filmfreeway.com.
The film must be sent before December 27th, 2020 (as attested by the date on the postmark) to the following address:

NB: DVDs must not be shipped by freight. Specify “no commercial value – for cultural purposes” on the envelope.
We will inform you whether your film has been selected for the official competition before January 31st, 2021.
3. Reception of the copies of the selected short films
In the event of a selection, the producer and/or director will have to take the necessary steps so that the film print or copy may be available to the Festival’s organizers before February 15th, 2021.
The director and /or the producer must also freely assign the rights to broadcast the film during the screenings of the Festival.
The following projection formats are accepted: H264, Prores 422 (LT).
To send the digital files, two solutions are available: online or by mail.
- Online :
The Selection Committee accepts to receive download links by email, in order to download the file in the requested format.
- By post :
The copy of the film can also be sent via a storage device (USB key, hard-drive) at the following address: heloise.tisserand@prixdecourt.net

4. Subtitles
The digital files will have to be subtitled in English and in French. If not subtitled, a dialogue list with time-code in English and French if possible must be sent in addition with the film.
5. Screenings
- The Selection Committee reserves the right to place the selected short film in the appropriate screening.
- No film officially selected by the Selection Committee can be removed by the producer or the director once it is selected.
- The producer and/or director agree that they are the owners of the musical, filmic or textual rights of the works included in the film. Otherwise, the Festival and the association Prix de Court cannot and will not be held responsible.
- The Festival cannot be held responsible for the quality of screening of the short films which do not respect the technical conditions demanded by these present rules, and the subsequent notifications expressed by the technical team in charge with the screenings.
6. Prizes
The prizes are awarded by a professional jury, a jury composed with students, and the audience. Approximately 10 films are rewarded.
These prizes are granted in technical loans or in cash by the Festival’s partners and are subject to the conditions specified only by the suppliers.
7. Guests
The Festival invites each director and/or producer whose film has been selected. The terms of fee system will be specified later in the year if necessary. The Festival guests will be greeted by members of the organization. They may be asked for meetings with the public or professional roundtables.
8. Media and TV
The rights’ owners authorize a free reproduction of stills, and inserts (10% of the total duration of the film, maximum 3 minutes) of their film for all publication of the Festival, and possible television broadcasting.
Selected films are invited to send the web link of a trailer of their film that will appear on the Festival’s website.
9. Return of copies of selected films
- The DVD of the selected films will be kept for the Festival’s archives. The others will only be sent back if you join an explicit demand, not later than two months after the end of the Festival.
- The digital media (USB key and hard drive) containing selected short films will be sent back not later than two month after the end of the 35th edition of the Festival. No claim will be valid after thirty days from the date the medium is sent back.
- Transportation costs, insurance and customs clearance are for going to the expense of the participant and return to the charge of the Festival.
10. General provisions
Entry for the Festival implies full acceptance of the above regulations (only French version of the regulations will have force of law). Only the board of directors of the Festival is empowered to settle any question not provided in the present regulation and to grant dispensations.
