Terms and rules

Short films or short scripts coming from within the European Union can be submitted in one of our two categories.
Since we already start with our open call in January we accept all submissions from the UK as well.

A submission does not necessarily mean that your film is shown at the live screening event, since we pre-select the best ones only.

Submitted short films must be in English and/or subtitled in English.
Short scripts must be written either in English or German.

We plan to show a great variety from all EU countries.
Please inform us about the country of origin in your application.

Short films must have a maximum total running time of up to 20 minutes.
Short scripts must not be longer than 20 pages (in addition to title page).

As it is the easiest way, we prefer online links to the projects.
Projects do not have to be exclusive for us. We would just love to see all your great films or screenplays, whether they are old or new or can be seen anywhere else.

The submitters declare to hold all intellectual property rights of their work.

We endorse and are open to all forms of entertaining, bold and fresh films or short scripts of any genres.
Only projects that are discriminatory and/or are against a common democratic sense, for example promoting sexism, will be disqualified from the competition.

Female filmmakers should feel most encouraged to join our festival. The quality of the content counts in the end, however we will try our very best to achieve an equal gender participation.

All digital formats are welcome, just please be aware, the better the quality of picture and sound, the better your chances are of winning one of the awards and prizes.
The same principle applies to short scripts. Scripts that we can read easily and fluently have the best chances to win.
All short scripts will be read and evaluated by professional screenwriters and lectors, who have many years of experience in the media business.

All submissions must be made on FilmFreeway.
Please understand that we cannot give refunds for submissions that do not match the criterias above.

We look forward to your exciting films and short scripts.
Thank you and best of luck!
