ABOUT COVID-19
In the first place, we’d like to thank to all of those who submitted their films, we’re very happy with the number of submissions this year as we seen you trust in us.
As we all know, everyone is affected by the pandemic, our day to day and activities had to be adjusted to this situation. In Argentina, preventive measures have been implemented since march 20th and will slowly become more flexible within the weeks, but with no precise dates yet. Cultural events gather large numbers of people so those will be the last to get back to normal. Also, cultural facilities (both state-owned and private ones) are thinking not to resuming activities until October, which leaves us with a deep sense of uncertainty.
This is the main reason why the seventh edition of Espacio Queer will be postponed till next year.
We’ve considered to held the festival virtually but many us who are part of this festival think Espacio Queer not just as a film festival, but also as a possibility of transformation, a meeting place that makes us stronger, freer and happier. To this effect, we think virtual format doesn’t match with the spirit of our festival.
We want to bring calm and make clear that the submissions received will not expire till next year and will be considered part of the 7th Espacio Queer’s call. This will be reopened once we are able to set the date for the festival in line with the current health situation. Each director will be able to keep the submission as it is or make a new one, as long as the categories matches (short film for short films, and feature films for feature films).
We believe that taking care of us, creating support networks, promoting activities and having mutual exchanges is the most important for us. This is what we’ll be doing till we can meet again; besides, we’re working in our first book on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Espacio Queer.

Espacio Queer is established as a cultural space guided by the queer theory. It’s a place for debate, reflection and artistic expresion to developes open activities about sexual diversity and gender.
Our search focuses on finding and promoting artistic works that expose a queer point of view which doesn’t establish stereotypes but opens for analysis and reflection. A view where to be a lesbian, bisexual, gay, transexual or intersexual is not a pose, fashion or, still less, a label, but an identity built up constantly wihout static or normaive parameters.
Located in La Plata city, this festival includes proyections of feature-films and short-films, official copetetion and showcase sections, debates, workshops, visual arts exhibitions and live music.
The call for entry for international feature-films and short-films is open till 1st of May of 2020. We are looking forward to see your work!
