♥♥ART from HEART is accepting submissions for its 2020 event!♥♥

ART from HEART calls all Artists working in short-film in the categories of animation, documentary, fiction, or experimental, to join the Short Film Festival in 2020, inspired by the theme of ECOFeminism, exploring the relationship between nature and women.

ECOFeminism uses the basic feminist tenets of equality between genders, a revaluing of non-patriarchal or nonlinear structures, and a view of the world that respects organic processes, values the earth as sacred, recognises humanity's dependancy on the natural world, and embraces all life as valuable.

We welcome new artistic interpretations in the Ecological side, Feminist side, and/or the relationship between them. We also welcome artworks made in early decades responding to the first ECOFeminist movement that started in the 1970s.

Your film screened at the famed Genesis Cinema in London, in 2020!!

Genesis Cinema has ties to the legendary English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer, Charlie Chaplin. He was a regular at the 'Paragon Theatre of Varieties' before becoming a Hollywood star and back when the cinema was used as a theatre and music hall. The building was converted to a cinema in 1912. Now home to Genesis, an independent art house cinema, with five screens with seating for 40-568, bar, and catering. It pays homage to its history in the naming of its bar: Paragon.

Animated Short
Early Bird (16th November, 2019) $13
Regular (24th February, 2020) $15
Late (9th March, 2020) $13

The Animated Short category is for films shorter than 20 minutes that feature primarily animated content or stop-motion animation, and usually falls into one of the two general fields of animation: narrative or abstract. Some of the techniques of animating films include but are not limited to hand-drawn animation, computer animation, stop-motion, clay animation, pixilation, cutout animation, pinscreen, camera multiple pass imagery, kaleidoscopic effects created frame-by-frame, and drawing on the film frame itself.

Experimental Short
Early Bird (16th November, 2019) $13
Regular (24th February, 2020) $15
Late (9th March, 2020) $13

The Experimental Short category is for films shorter than 30 minutes. Films submitted in this category often reject traditional narrative structure and filmmaking tools, and seek to convey a meaning or story through a unconventional and often abstract application of the film medium. Experimental films (with few exceptions) do not have the linear, conventional story structure that you would find in narrative or documentary shorts. If your film does not heavily employ abstract or non-narrative tools, it may not belong in this category. For examples of experimental work, see the filmography of Shirley Clarke, Stan Brakhage, or Hollis Frampton.

Early Bird (16th November, 2019) $13
Regular (24th February, 2020) $15
Late (9th March, 2020) $13

A libertarian writer, feminist theorist, and militant, she published more than 50 novels and essays. We welcome archival short films produced during the first ECOFeminism movement of the late 1970s. Time to dig into your Archives!
