About the festival

The second annual DC Drone Film Festival will once again be a part of the 2017 National Drone Show, taking place from Nov. 29-30. The DC Drone Film Fest celebrates the work of drone videographers from around the world.

A showcase of the imaginative work captured with unmanned aircraft systems, entrants will have the chance to share their work with fellow pilots, producers, equipment manufacturers, drone enthusiasts and all of the 4,600 video, broadcast and AV professionals who attend the National Drone Show and Government Video Expo.

Submissions will be accepted in any (or all) of the six categories: Narrative; Nature; Sports; Architecture; Corporate/Industrial/Business; and Shorts. The festival is open to content filmed anywhere on the globe.

Submissions should not exceed five minutes in length (or one minute in the Shorts category) and should consist of at least 50% drone footage.

The winning films will be showcased at the DC Drone Film Festival during the National Drone Show and Government Video Expo.

Providing a platform for the use of drones to power visual storytelling is what the DC Drone Film Festival is all about. We are excited to see the great work you have to offer.

Winners in each category will receive a $250 cash prize and be screened throughout the 2017 National Drone Show, held in November in Washington D.C.

The winners will also receive recognition across the NewBay Broadcast & Video network of sites. Additional prizes to be announced.
