About the festival

DC Asian Pacific American Film was established to be the beacon of creative output of Asian and Asian American media arts through community outreach, social media platforms, collaborative efforts with other Asian Pacific American organizations, and a film festival.

MISSION
The mission of the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival is to bring attention to the creative output from Asian Pacific American (APA) communities and encourage the artistic development of APA talent, arts, and films in the greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Region.
Our mission embodies the following goals:
* To raise public awareness of APA talent, arts & media
* To encourage and promote the artistic development of APA artists of all creative arts
* To provide arts education opportunities, with particular outreach to APA youth and adults
* To raise awareness and act as a catalyst for the discussion of issues affecting APA communities
* To bring diverse people together, to promote artistic and social interactions
* To sponsor and operate a DC APA Film Festival annually

We are so excited that our 19th Annual DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival is set for April 24-26, 2020 at US Navy Memorial Burke Theater, Washington, D.C.

This means we have very limited slots available for selected submissions. We also want to show those films that have been been gaining ground through its technical and creative proficiencies, its social message concerning Asian/Asian American issues, and lastly, the overall exquisiteness, uniqueness and beauty the film displays.

Please bear in mind: We program throughout the year, thus, we may not screen your film during the 20th Annual DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival, but we may incorporate your submission in future programming of films and film-related events. For us, programming is a year-round commitment— we seek to screen films both during the festival as well as during the year.

The DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival recognizes the efforts of Asian/Asian American filmmakers. Based on the number of submissions, Awards will be given to the following categories:

A) Rising Star Youth Filmmaker - Under 18 (if applicable)
B) Best Short Film (various categories)*

*There may be several other award categories left at the discretion of the programming committee*

FILMMAKER HOSPITALITY
For select Filmmakers, a Travel Stipend will be available!
