Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin Fl is accepting submissions for it’s 2nd Video Arts Festival in April 2020. FCC is a 6 year old non-profit growing rapidly and wants to expand Visual Arts in the South Shore area of Florida. Fees collected will enhance our scholarship funds in Arts & Education.
The first screening will take place at the Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin Florida, USA. The program is presented Pub style with popcorn and a cash bar.
A second screening will be held at the Reeves Theatre, University of Tampa, Tampa FL, Sponsored by the Film, Animation and New Media department. (Date to be determined.)
This is a wonderful event highlighting new and vibrant works by international artists. Local screenings also help to promote experimental work in time based media! In 2019 we invited 14 artists from 12 countries, this year we are opening the festival up for submissions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Artists engaged in new ways to communicate contemporary issues in time based media.
• Videos must be single channel with maximum duration of 5 min.
• We accept- video art, experimental video & animation, visual coding
• Works completed 2018 – 2020. We love premieres but it is not required.
• Maximum of 2 works can be submitted by each artist
• We do not accept traditional film or traditional animation

Dee Hood & Santiago Echeverry
Dee Hood ‘s experimental videos have shown in over 25 countries around the world. She has received numerous awards for art videos and her political videos have been featured in The Nation Magazine’s OppArt section. She is a Professor Emerita, Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota Florida where she taught a range of art courses including time based media. Hood received an M.F.A. in Visual Art from the University of South Florida, Tampa in 1990. www.deehood.net
Santiago Echeverry, is a Colombian American New Media Artist, Producer, and Educator, with a background in Film, Television, Video and Performance Art. He started exhibiting internationally in 1992, participating in festivals such as Siggraph, Siggraph Asia, FILE and the Japan Media Arts Festival, among others. Thanks to the Fulbright Grant, he received his Master's degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. He moved to the USA in 2003, and relocated to Florida in 2005 to teach Interactive Media at the University of Tampa. His research is focused on volumetric imaging, video-art, interactive design, creative code and queer expressions. In his latest project, The Cabaret, he is producing a series of experimental videos, digital prints, and virtual portraits, created with the volumetric sensor Kinect and custom code in Processing, that capture three-dimensionally the members and supporters of vibrant LGBTQ communities around the world.
