About the festival

First held in Bellinzona, Switzerland, in 1988, "Castellinaria - Young Film Festival” is a cinematographic event dedicated to highlighting films that deal with subjects of relevance to young people. The short film competition, called Castellincorto, have the aim to screen short films made in a cinema's school or with childhood's theme and coming of age. It's deserved by a Jury's Award (1500 CHF) and by a Audience's Award (500 CHF).

Terms and rules

COMPETITION CASTELLINCORTO 2020 - RULES AND REGULATIONS
Art. 1 – Castellincorto is a competition reserved to short films directed by students from audiovisual/film schools and enrolled for the current or the preceding academic year, and short films whose subject is children's rights and coming of age. Only films finished after January 1st 2019 will be accepted. Exceptions can be made.

Art. 2 – Short films realized for the attainment of a BA or a MA degree (or equivalent certificates) are admitted. However, all kinds of short films made in a film school are eligible if they comply with Art. 1. However, short films on theme of childhood and adolescence in accordance with Art. 1 are also eligible.

Art. 3 – The maximum length is 20 minutes (including titles and credits). However, the Festival is free to select short films that are longer than this.

Art. 4 – To submit a short film, please use the platform FilmFreeway from May 15th 2020 until August 15th 2020.

Art. 5 – If the film director is a student is required to send a copy of his/her current Student ID card or a proof of school attendance by e-mail to castellincorto@castellinaria.ch.

Art. 6 – Documentation submitted to the Festival by mail will not be returned.

Art. 7 – The director, the distributor and all the co-producers of the selected short film, allow the Festival to screen the film during the Castellincorto competition, but also to show it in one other screening in a Swiss high-school between November 15th 2020 and November 15th 2021 (the precise date of these screenings can be established together).

Art. 8 – Only fully completed submissions are accepted for pre-selection.

Art. 9 – By submitting the short film you accept that part of this work (7 seconds max.) is might be used by the Festival to promote the event (e.g. in a trailer of the selected short films) and that it can be published online on the Festival’s official website and/or on social media.
