About the festival

We are a new Brooklyn-based art initiative and production company developing both film, internet-based media, and theater projects. We are in the process of putting together a four-day Festival (entitled Canvas To Colours Art Festival) the very beginning of September (9/1 thru 9/4/2016) that explores the work of same gender loving/LBGTQIA artists, with special interests on artists of color. Our program is about pushing diversity and bringing works of under represented demographics into safe spaces in New York City to develop their work in an environment that is non exploitative.

We fully welcome trans, lesbian, gay, bi, non gender conforming, & all in between with special attention on Black, Latino, Asian, & Native American stories.

We are currently looking for New York/New Jersey based artists to submit: short films, short documentaries, web series material, works in progress, or select scenes of bigger projects AS WELL AS one act plays (that do not exceed 20 minutes). Content must have something to do with LBGTQIA experiences, love/romance, sexual identity, or the politics of gender/sexual identity (must not exceed 20 minutes).

We are also accepting performance pieces (dance, music, comedy, or live fine arts).

For theatre submissions, we will offer creative team assistance, casting (if need be), dramaturgy, direction, etc...

The frame work of the festival for film projects is to offer screening and talk back opportunities. If you are not on your final draft and want constructive criticism, have a trailer, or a finished web series, tv pilot, or movie that is lbgtqia related, we are interested in having your work featured.

The frame work for theatre projects is to put the work up live works for audiences, provide space for conversation, to then further develop artists work.

Festival dates are now going to be 11/14 thru 11/18 and we are taking selections immediately for quick development and rehearsal process. If chosen there is a $25 participation fee due upon acceptance, there is now a $25 submission fee. Excited to meet and work with you. Please send scripts, bios, and contact information for theatre, and send links, contact, and bios for film submissions right here!

Thank you.
